(and just like the Charger, it doesn't run either)

How close is your Charger to running now that you got it a new heart?

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

not too far..theoretically. I've painted the engine and put the 2bbl intake back on it. I still need to get the flexplate and oil pan/pick up, but I've been chronically broke since I moved out, so $ is an issue. Other than that, I just need to get off my ass and pull the old engine, and clean & paint the engine bay.

There is also the matter of my limited know how, and since I'm pretty much doing this on my own, who knows how long it will be before I get it right.

lol...I have...where do you think I've acquired most of my knowledge  :yesnod:

Still..its not the 'big' stuff I'm worried about. I'm pretty sure I can get the engine in and hook it up to the mounts and tranny just fine. It's the little stuff - wires, hoses, etc. that I'm most worried about.

To All,

Here are some photos from the past couple of months to show how much my sons have grown.

The first one is on prom night.  Levi (seventeen at the time) is the driver and Ethan (fifteen) is riding shotgun as they get ready to take their dates to the prom.  They came and asked permission to take "the Beast" as it was a special night for them.   Since they are both straight A students, Eagle Scouts and plan to go to Annapolis, who am I to say no?  Not to mention that they helped build that car.  The Annapolis appointment for Levi is loooking really good.  He had the home interview this morning and it went very well.  The interviewer told us after he was finished that he would be very surprised if Levi did not get appointments for Annapolis, West Point and the Air Force Academy (he has applied to all three, just in case his Annapolis plans don't work out).  He has already received a letter of acceptance from West Point and the Air Force Academy track coach has been inquring on him.  Oh, they had a great time that night.  No one paid any attention to the chaffuered limousines when that FE5 Rallye Red Charger R/T rumbled up at the front door.  Their classmates went wild over it.

Shades of "Smokey & The Bandit?  Picture two is of the boys with our two latest acquisitions.  The '78 Trans Am was purchased by Levi with his own funds for the princely sum of $350.  We aired up the tires, put a battery and some transmission fluid in it, and had it running under its own power in less than a half hour.  The body is very straight and the old Tin Indian runs pretty good.  The brown Monaco is a '78 model that was a former CHP unit.  It was the last year for the 440 magnum.  The body is straight as an arrow and rust free.  The engine was redone with headers, flowmasters and a mild camshaft as well as new front suspension, rear end and rear springs.  It had sat for eight years in a shed when we bought it but after a little wrenching it was making all the right sounds.

The third photo is of Ethan and the Monaco after we got it running and cleaned it up.  Ethan and Levi did most of the work, I just supervised on my crutches.  The boys and I used it as a summer driver.  They were working on their '76 New Yorker coupe and I was also in it every chance I got.  Ethan is going through is student driver program and this was the car he drove the most.  We had a lot of fun cruising around in the evenings as he practiced his driving.  Notice that it still has dual whips, dual spotlights and a cage in it.  The boys also used it to haul their fellow cross country team members around for summer practice and such.  Everyone around here got a big kick out of watching them drive around with their "prisoners" in the cage.  Ethan is taking copious notes as older brother navigates the process of obtaining the appointment to Annapolis.  Both of them ultimately hope to become Marine Corps officers.  Joining the Marines is sort of a family tradition, but they would be the first to go in with "butter bars" on their shoulders.

Don't tell me about how bad kids are these days.  Kids are still the same they have always been.  It is we so-called "adults" that are the problem, not our kids.  Show me a young person whose life is in a mess and I will show you an "adult" who did not do the most important job they could ever have.  And yes, life is very, very good right now in Ozona, Texas.

May God bless America,
