I have changed my Dakota dash lights over...didn't like the looks...the LED bulbs do not disperse the light evenly through the dash....LED bulbs are more of a "straight on" bulb....there were bright & dim spots...pics below

first pic is stock 194 bulbs...second pic is white LED replacement bulbs

terrible one

Reading this thread, it looks liked white LEDs give you a pretty nice "blue" thanks to the blue tinted lenses in the gauge cluster. Moparstuart's picture looks awesome!

Just lit mine up yesterday. It looks great! I'll have to make a list of lamps I used, got them from http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-bin/store/index.cgi?action=DispPage&Page2Disp=%2Fled_prods.htm. I think I spent about $40 all together. I used sideways pointing for general lighting, directed lens for turn signals and indicator lamps.

Here's my order from Superbright LEDs.

I bought an LED lamp for the overhead courtesy light, and I think for both sides of the console...I think Superbright has a list of necessary lamps on their website somewhere...http://www.superbrightleds.com/vehicle_led_bulb_finder.php?utm_source=Car%2BBulb%2BFinder%2B(main%2Bnav)&utm_medium=Car%2BBulb%2BFinder%2B(main%2Bnav)&utm_campaign=Car%2BBulb%2BFinder%2B(main%2Bnav)

The hard part was choosing what lamp to use. For some, there are 3-4 choices of lamps with more or less LEDs-I didn't want it too bright, but obviously not too dim because you can't control them with the rheostat. I installed a couple of them in my pickup for testing and loved it (this is why the ends of my instrument cluster appear darker, the end lamps are missing)

well, actually, there are 2 styles of bulbs...some are 57's, the others are 194's....I went out to my spare dashes I have hanging in garage....one dash has 9 bulbs, the other has 10 bulbs....this is also counting the high beam & both turn signal bulbs....I think there are only 2 of the 194's in the far right that screw into the printed circuit board with those little black twisty thingys.....the rest are the standard #57 that twist & turn into the light sockets that are part of the dash harness

maybe someone else can confirm this

(it seems that I have 2 different speedometers..one has 2 bulbs for lighting, the other has only 1)  :shruggy:

The original dash cluster bulbs were the #158s.I upgraded mine to the 194s  :Twocents:
