Hey you all, I just got off the phone with my cousin. He was watching tv just alittle while ago on a channel he likes. Anyways, he called to tell me some company down in GA is making full 2nd Gen charger kit cars that comes with almost everything but nuts and bolts (I guess you have to get them yourself) and you to what he said you assemble the car yourself from what they said on tv that he heard. He just got in and turned the tv on and caught the show in the middle when they was talking about the old chargers and kits and that got his attention.  :shruggy: .

I wonder what all is included.

Well, to what he told me, almost everything is there but for the nut and bolts though. So to my understand the kit comes with all the stuff but minus the bolts and nuts. He said they said the kit comes with all the glass packed safe, and also the frame is in 8 pieces.. and all you do is bolt the stuff together I guess.

I already did it....nuts & bolts were included when I took the car apart

but at what cost.......

I'm not sure yet, I'm trying to find that out myself.. and also the name of the place doing the car kit's.

Okay, sense I last posted my cousin called me back and we got talking. We got talking about this very subject again. I ask him if he by chance knew what program he seen it on and what channel was he watching when he seen it. Turns out to what he said was the program was Chop Cut Rebuild  :o . And I do believe we have a host from that show on here with us as a member :o

The kit car is pose to be a 1969 Charger, you get everything with it almost but or the nut and bolts though to what my cousin flat out told me.

Tell your cousin welcome to last year....

http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,72866.0.html

maybe it comes with these nuts & bolts?

You know, I was thinking that very same thing myself. But the thing is, the car in that episode along side the charger was corvette.. right? but can someone please tell me what color it was?

Just for the record, I did tell my cousin about the episode of the XP Hemi Charger tonight and told him what he was telling me sounded alot like it. But the thing that throws me is the other car in that episode. I haven't watch the episode myself recently. But I won't say your all wrong about this car kit and that episode as I infact think it's the same and I agree with you all! But my cousin is mostly not wrong though.. that's why I mention of this stuff today for and mention it as being a "rumor".

The kit car is pose to be a 1969 Charger,

The car is SUPPOSED to be a 69?
This is a scam or urban legend. These Unibody cars do not just get BOLTED together. To believe that just shows that you do not understand how the car was built in the first place.  You do NOT bolt the body to the frame because these cars are a series of several parts welded together. Sure, the fenders, hood, doors and trunklid are bolted on, but most everything else is welded together. How would you expect to correctly line up some "jigsaw" pile of parts? These cars were put together on an assembly line with jigs to hold them in place and they STILL had variances.
If this "kit" were to be a series of sheetmetal or fiberglass "skins" to be attached to some sort of tube chassis setup, then that is no different than what drag racers have been doing since the 60s. This is in NO way a street car unless it could pass a state inspection.

The color of the 'vette was originally a dark blue....when finished they painted it a gun metal gray.

He's partially right. Chop Cut Rebuild is building a '69 Charger, from scratch, using all new AMD body panels. The last episode I saw, they had the body completed and were installing the headliner. If I remember right, they are dropping an Indy Cylinder Heads hemi motor in it. I haven't seen them mentioning that you could by it as a kit. I think they were just trying to show that you can build a complete car from all the repop aftermarket parts that are out there now. Don't know for sure how they will ever license it without an original VIN, but people do it all the time with hot rod kit cars and Shelby replica kits.

Ok.... I was a little off.... They did have an original Charger chassis, but there sure wasn't much they didn't replace if you watch the episodes. Here's a link. If you hit the videos link on this page, it will show some of the work that has been done.

M.A.R.S. has had a convertible Charger "shell" even since AMD started producing panels. I bet they'd leave the top on if you asked.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

bull

It makes sense that you get about EVERYTHING but the nuts and bolts. ::) What does the company have against nuts and bolts? Or do they just want to make sure the process is not too easy?

Troy

It's discrimination I tell you. Seriously though, those nuts and bolts probably cost as much as the sheet metal.

Plus it would take years off your life trying to find the right stuff. Maybe there will be a "bolts sold separately" kit for another $1,000 or so, assuming this story contains any facts at all.
