hi,, and you right, that's the first thing I'm doing, I tell you the original motor was broken long ago ,,the current engine is a ford 296 argentino, but I found a 1978 engine 440, this in another city in my country but I will buy it soon, the problem is that it has no transmission, I thought buying a summit racing,, I like more with roof, i put more pictures later,, thanks

Hi James,

Here's a picture from my restoration showing how the metal is made, the parting line between roof and quarter panel is above where this car is cut. You will need at least to find a complete roof and cut the necessary pieces out of some quarter panels.

Here's a link to my entire restoration; if you use the search box on this forum you can find many other useful threads.

You also need the inner structure of the quarter/roof ++
May be better to have parts from a donor car.

Doe's it have an automatic transmission in it now? 727 torquflite is the automatic transmission you would need for a 440. I'd like to see the bottom (underside of that car) to see how they grafted that ford crap into it.
Do you have the first 2 letter's of the vin (vehicle identification number).

The engine compartment looks very different than an American/Canadian car. Battery on opposite side, odd master cylinder. I have no idea what engine that is - looks like an old Ford Y block or something.

Good luck, that is going to be a monumental job. Looks like there is a LOT of work you'll need to do on that to restore it properly. Be prepared to have lots of money to spend.

:coolgleamA: XS   charger R/T :o    guessed it was a late build because of the tall bumper guards & chrome outer door handle buttons

as far as i know  B /RB motor all 727 torqueflites will bolt up , but there are different tail shafts one with out a provision for console shift linkage bracket , & one with  , also  short & long tail shafts ,& early ones with cable gear slection !!  i'm no expert , on 727s though & there is prolly other stuff i have forgotten about or did not know

:Twocents:  Has to be a big block 727 and long tail shaft to fit cross member and drive shaft, will be about 36 inches long.  also have to get right year and balance torque convert  to match the crank shaft,a 78 440 should be externally balanced??? best guess is to get a 727 from  b or c body cars and years say 74 to 80?? pickup and motorhomes may have same 727 if they are big block, double check and measure,36 long. up to 65 were cable shift, avoid them. and they changed front trans pump drive dogs and mid 70es external balance torque converters will not fit early years like 66 to ?72??    must have balance for crank or will have all kinds of shake and vibaration problems.dj :2thumbs:

thanks, that's useful information ,, the original was a column shifter, but i like more a floor shifter, i was thinking in a b&m megashifter,,
There is only a memory on the steering wheel

this is the engine

What is the meaning of these numbers?

The numbers mean the 440 was built on the 31st day in august 1976,
