Couple of AAMers ran over to Elgin, Oklahoma (4hrs out) and were nice enough to take plenty of pics of this Charger for me  :icon_smile_cool:

Does anyone know the car?  I'd like to get more info from the owner, Bill told me the guy was out of Austin.  If not, someone downstate needs to find this guy and get him on the site, wish I could have seen it in person.

Here are the pics I was sent:

I am going to try and get one of the guys out of Lawton that helped with the show see if he can't get an e-mail on the owner etc.  I'd like to get a lot more info on it and if he isn't already on this site I'll drop a plug for it as well...always helps encourage someone to join up when folks are drooling over their Charger, lol.

It does look like a turd with that firewall and those cheap ass 528 Hemi stickers on the side.

Nice car and great workmanship, but i don't like the dash mods, shaved door handles, trunk upholstery and smooth firewall.  :Twocents:

:scratchchin: Not too bad, most the mods are rather tasty and very well executed... but yeah, that sticker screams "Cheap Ass After thought!" Thanks for posting it.
EDIT:
I don't see what the problem is with a smoothed firewall, lots of custom cars even some chargers on this site have them,.. admittedly if i had the money to do that I'd maybe spend it elsewhere, but it's not as questionable in my feeble mind as say the re-jiggered dash pad or the padded and lined trunk. what is that aluminum blue turd bar across the door jam?.. is that to hold the door ajar at shows?..  :shruggy:
Anyhow back to the firewall, it goes well with the over all intent of smoothing everything, like the door handles side markers and emblems... perhaps the builder is a interior Resto guy and wanted to demonstrate their skill...  :shruggy:
I'd drive it proudly, but I'd take that sticker off the rocker Pronto!   :RantExplode:

Man, some of ya'll are harsh   I really like it.  I realize most will go for the OE/Resto look, but this one is modified and done very well.  I always try to look at cars from the perspective that most will go the resto route and that modifieds stand out and are up to more scrutiny and need to be executed well to not get torn apart, I sure wouldn't object to voting for this Charger.

And yes, the bar is simply to hold the door open.

Around here it isn't uncommon to have 20 mph winds with gusts 40-50 on "nice" days.  The guys that hit the shows a lot will usually have a way to brace their doors (keeps from hitting another car or blowing shut) and you'll also see rods holding glass hoods anchored (much more of a threat then the door going off).  It is really hard to keep "signs" upright most days as well.  Most try to anchor them to the bumper or under hood.

One of our members that actually got Best of Show at this one with his HEMI GTX has similar door bars, just not decked out...and for those that don't like modifieds, you'll be glad to know his is stock.

bull

Sorry to kill the mood with a stupid question but how does the shaved door handles thing work? How do you get in if the windows are closed?

Brock Samson

there's this thing they use called "poppers" they pop the door open just enough to get a finger around the lip. There's also a hidden thingee so in case the battery goes dead, you can still gain access.

Blue turd.  Where is the brake master at. Looking at one of the interior shots the brake master looks like they moved it above the gas pedal ?.  Well nicely done and alot of money spent. The side decal does look tacky. Im not a big fan of the mods. To each his own.

I'll be adding a GoPro walkaround I got today, just have to extract it from the full show clip.  I'll update when it is done, I'll post the rest as well...mainly late model Mopars but Bill should have gotten a good clip of the GTX which ya'll will likely appreciate.

Maybe I can get something typed up from the full tilt, holy-grail, assembly line fresh 69 R/T here to appease the rest of you...then post back with another modified   I'll try to keep them balanced as best I can.
