  I thought I'd get a comment or two but not from you.  :smilielol:  It was actually affordable as the England, Paris and Rome stays were Hotels, and the rest a Bed and Breakfast. We had vouchers for the Bed and Breakfast's and would call that morning to get a reservation - every day started out with "where do we want to go today?". That part of the trip was very fluid. Plus we drove ourselves (no tours). And it was in the mid-90's when prices were a bit more sane. That trip took a long time to plan. If you would like I can start a new thread with pics and commentary from each day, every day, for about a month. Or not.  :icon_smile_wink:

We did two weeks in Italy.  Like Dan, we planned our own trip, no tours.  We used a local travel agent in Rome just to book our hotels/B&B's and train rides/rental car etc.  We did 3 days in Rome, trained up to Florence for a day, rented a car and drove down into Tuscany and stayed in a B&B for 4 days that was a 15th century castle/vineyard in Chianti.  Then drove back to Florence to return the car and train down to Naples, and took local transportation to get to Positano on the Amalfi coast where we stayed for 5 days, with a day trip to Capri and one to Pompeii.  Then trained back to Rome for our last night which was also the night of the Live 8 concert around the world so we got to see that, then flew home the next day.  I can't wait to get back there.

you guys are making my night at Holiday Inn sound kinda boring.( No pics btw , didn't have time)

I would love to go to Western  Europe someday, preferably Italy, Rome, Venice, maybe Switzerland, Sweden, Ireland,,maybe Greece,  but I have my doubts my wife would make that long of an air plane trip ( she's not a fan of flying )

hemigeno

We did almost two weeks at a little resort called Sandcastle (there were just 4 cabins when we went) on the island of Jost Van Dyke in the British Virgin Islands.  Very, very cool.  I was hoping to go back there for our 25th anniversary in 2015, but my wife is holding out for Hawai'i.  Guess that's where she really wanted to go on the honeymoon...   :scratchchin:

We flew to Venice and stayed there for a few days. Then we took the train to Rome and we stayed there for 6 days. We did day trips to Capri, Florence and other popular spots. We also spent some time exploring the city of Rome.
My wife was nervous about going. She was concerned about the long flight. She loved it and wants to go back real soon.

I think our honeymoon was combined with the wedding trip.  We got married on a glacier outside of Juneau during a cruise.  She was worried about cold feet.

No not really, although I don't quite understand how the cars come into it.
It's just a 3.5hr flight for me to Bali and atm flights can be as cheap as $199.
