Have any of you completely thrown out your back while doing the most mundane things on your Charger?

For the second time, I have wrenched my back, first time, I was polishing the front bumper before installing it and this time while installing the roof rail weatherstrip...... :brickwall:

Never mind that I was removing tires, doing the brakes and general "heavy" work all weekend with no trouble at all.

It would seem that all it takes is the wrong motion one too many times  ::)

41husk

I would bet the strain of the heavy work led to the mundane movement doing the final deal!!!  either way that really sucks

I've never done my back in but I actually get abdominal cramps if I make the wrong move at times.
In fact just yesterday I was lifting out a Monaro rear glass with my buddy and it kicked in.
I have to crouch into a comfortable position until it passes and boy does it hurt. It's like pulling a muscle inside, and if I dare to try and twist my body to stretch the muscle out I often end up with a cramp on the other side too lol.

last year I stepped out of a S-10 Blazer truck at work....must have seen at just the right (or wrong) angle....I could barely move for a week after that.....I pinched something back there....

this "getting old" thing sucks

sorry to hear that !!  anyone with a bad back  its not good !!  :icon_smile_blackeye:

yep , when i was a teenager  never worried me ,  wights at the gym  , then in to work next day  shifting engines , lifting gearboxes & all the general  mechanic stuff ,  get a twinge in the back , oh no biggie i'm in destructable ,  move in body & paint full time  as i got older ,  after  10 - 15 years   stoopping  stretching  with a paint gun in one hand  air line in other   normally  just before half way across a roof  damn  like hot needles ,  same  putting a door skins on the angle you stand at  , mopping  hoods & stuff  ,  lifling  body pannels & angles you have to stand at while holding panels  etc etc !! certain angles while rubbing bondo or blocking !! , just collapsed on the  floor a few times  ,  not even able to move . bad pain  but just cant move   , not had it for  about 6 or 7 years  , but can feel it from time to time ,   guys at work say whats up ,  something  locks up & i start walking  or standing lobsided !   had it where i have not been able to get out of the car  well stand up  !
back pain is not good  ,  doc said it was the discs moving & or swelling  causing the next disc to compress or something  , no too sure now  , but  its pain like i have never had before ! even when i smashed my ankle ,  just cant move  , & if i draged my self to a sitting postion would just collaps again in pain!

HANDM, I feel your pain Bro. Gel ice packs and Advil are my only recourse these days. I also believe 41husk is spot on!

Hey Doc, I'm a bit concerned about you. Not a hernia concern? Have you had recent surgery because I'm thinking adhesions after the fact. If none of the about....welcome to old age.

The spine and neck are the most curious structures. You can eat right, exercise, lift correctly and, like A383Wing says, out 'o the blue the wraith of pain descends on you like a freakin' rock!

Ice pack, Advil...................(and moderate Chardonnay etc for me). Get better, you still have lots more to polish. :nana:

to continue with my story....I'll make it short....

I have 3 discs in my lower back that have tears....the only option right now is cordizone shots to try and relieve some of the pain...

it hurts to sit or lay down for more than 5 minutes at a time...

I'm in constant pain 24 hours a day....it's even hard now to do even the simple tasks like putting my socks on...

take care of yerself while ya can....it don't get any better

Nah no surgery here. I'm putting it down to getting older. Maybe I'll try taking magnesium

I don't mean to scare anyone but I had this party in Sept. 2008. Be very very careful with your back..........all of you please especially as you get older. I'm only 58 and man does this blow.

HANDM

Thanks everyone, Alas, I am only 40 and have had this very same shi* now for the last 15......sciatic trouble on the left side which is what I inflamed doing the bumper and now the ever present T12 mid back one.

I am a firm believer in chiropractic and need to start going again.......If I don't, I'll end up with a cane in another five

The one job that really did a number on my back was recovering the rear seat with a NOS seatcover. You guys have no idea how stiff those originals are. There is absolutely no elasticity to them at all. I was pulling the cover and snapping the hog rings in, and I knew it was really doing a number on my arms, but the next morning my back was all messed up. It took several days to recover.

Man thats some hardware Twodko, hope you are improving after that install, looks particulary major, was it a degenerative condition if I could ask humbly.
I had an old K class flatbottom V8 race boat and flipped that in 1998 at pace and still get a few back problems with it. Finally found a good chiropractor after a few years and kept up with the stretches so it keeps most of it at bay.

Yep, you nailed the cause of my back problem. Genetic too, I knowing nothing of my biological father so I have no idea if he suffered the same thing.........prolly though.
Chiro helped years ago but was always just a bandaid. After having the truck chassis bolted to my spine, if I bend or twist too much my legs get so freakin' weak my knees want to lockup and I can barely walk. I sit down for a while, the inflammation recedes and I'm up again. Its awful, I can't wash/dry a car without being taken down. Protect your backs my friends. I, too, was invincible back in the day doing things I should have been more careful about. Could be worse........I could be in a chair. :shruggy:

One more with back issues here.... had a herniated disc at L4-L5 surgically repaired in January of '08. Still have some sciatic twinges to this day, but all my lumbar discs are arthritic anyway. Need to get some more weight off, keep an exercise/stretching routine going, and regular visits to the bone cruncher (chiropractor). As good as I am today is as good as I'll ever be.... :brickwall: This getting old thing sucks, but it beats the alternative.

same here...never knew my real Dad...he passed a few years ago...found out I had a brother..he told me that Dad had lower back problems ...guess it's hereditary... I just went through colon cancer surgery and spent 6 days in hospital...that's on my Mom's side...

I'm screwed.....

and yes also to the chiropractor issue....never really helped me...was just a band-aid for the day....I got tired of paying chiro guy $50 for 10 minutes of work....

I'm in the wrong business

A383Wing,

Oh man am I glad to be speaking with you! I hope and pray your surgery went well and they got all of it. Any cancer is horrible but the colon variety is hideous. Be well my friend and know you have peeps out here that care about ya.
