I have allways dreamed having one bike, cruising/choper kind

models I like are Suzuki Intruder, Honda Shadow or Steed, Yamaha Virago. Harleys are my fav, but they are not affordable down here.

engine displacement... 400-800 cc is MORE than enough

which one would you choose ?

For a cruiserbike, I'd choose first which you like to look at, second what you can find affordable and third which has the best local dealer support.

http://articulo.tumoto.com.ve/MLV-30409902-suzuki-intruder-35236-2000-_JM

800 cc, but another option could be this one:

http://articulo.tumoto.com.ve/MLV-30048982-bera-virago-ed-especial-35329-1997-_JM

half of displacement though ( 400cc )

I'm just dreaming right now, but MAYBE if I get suddenly some money, I could go for one

Hey, I know a website where you can win a free cruiser bike.. All you have to do is get 14,352 people to sign up. No strings!

OK OK OK.. I'm kidding man!!

My favorite "foreign" cruiser bike's always been the Vulcan 1500... Something about it is a beast!

I've had 15 bikes... Only ONE was a Harley.. And it'll be my last. I'm a sport bike kinda guy..

Good luck with your quest.

speedfreak68

I have a honda vtx 1300, i really like it. Although if it had been allowed I would have gotten the 1800....

Nice taste in cruisers Jeff  :2thumbs:

I have a 96 Vulcan 1500 Classic & purchased it new off the showroom floor. I've done some major touring on that Scooter and it's allways been reliable. Lots of aftermarket Chrome & billet aluminum accessories added over the years.  :coolgleamA: On one roadtrip I drove 6000 miles in 3 weeks !  :icon_smile_big:

Natcho ; Look at the Vulcan line of cruisers. An older VN800 classic would be an excellent starter bike.

Before Mrs Ponch went out and bought the new Chally, I was thinking about getting one of these:

They look good, theyre cheap, and theyre good starter bikes. Can't afford one for the time being, though if gas prices keep going up it could be worth my while...

I've been looking at the Honda VTX1800F lately. Not sure if I'm going to get the wife talked into it or not.

Natcho you say in the 400 to 800cc range. I would go with the biggest engine you can afford. 800cc being the smallest I would take. It gives you room to grow in to it. Cruisers are not quick bikes like a 600cc sport bike would be.

I have an 03 Vulcan Meanie 1500..  Excellent bike, comfortable, and I cruise a lot!   but the older 800 like Ron stated, are a nice bike! Perfect for what you want.

I have always liked the Honda 1100 tourer....easy to ride...looks like and sounds like a Harley without the issues...somewhat cheap but hard to find....I looked at and rode several before my wife decided a motorcycle was not for us and let me buy my 68 charger

I miss my 98 Goldwing bad. It only had 2,000 miles. I sold it because it cost me 10,000.00 and all I did was make coffe runs with it.  I then spent 45,000.00 for the charger, and pretty much just make coffe runs with it.  :slap:  I told the wife I want to get another Goldwing by next spring.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

Guys, you are giving me GREAT but also non affordable options LOL

Do you think you might want something that needs a little work? I have purchased many bikes that were kind of "ugly". Good motor, just was not well taken care of.

Clean it up, freshen up the carbs, maybe a little light paint work and polish, and you have a nice looking bike. I have done this several times. You could get a bigger bike for less money, when you are done it is worth more than you have in it.

Just an idea since you are handy with wrenches and tech manuals.

did you look at that link I posted earlier?

Its an awesome looking bike. Cheap. It's only 250cc. But I do wonder how hard/easy it would be to put a bigger engine on there.

honda Vtx is a good running bike but the offset of the tires causes prematature wear on the tires  (offset is due to the shaft drive) lots of aftermarket accessories for the yamahas, suzukis arent very popular around here at least.

Nacho-RT74

the shaftdrive makes offset wheels in all driveshaft bikes ? or just the VTX ?

I have had a bunch of shaft drive bikes. Mostly Yamaha and a Honda. None of them had an offset wheel. I cant imagine how you could even ride a bike if the wheels are not in line. Couldnt roll through a turn.

dont know about other brands but the vtx is offset jusdt a hair due to the shaft, it wears thethe right side of the front tire and left on the rear instead of evenly, its not much but enough to notice in the wear patterns.
