It would be neat to somebody replicate one I know a guy whos doing the dodge deora. But modifiying a existing vehicle has been done. But this would need to be a ground floor operation. As what exisiing vehicle could be reworked into that car.Maybe Vette :icon_smile_big: .I suppose it could be done by building a box channel frame.A by either using wood body panels fiberglass reinforced.Or by build a metal frame work cage by metal screen or metal rods Then fiberglassed over.To create that unique 68 charger III.

I'm going to say that one of the charger III bodies does exist. If a drag racer was using a body to run  then, somebody has to have one of  them laying around somewhere.

Now as far as the diamante is concerned. I have some pics of the Diamante that my dad took back in 1980. I think I posted them over on Moparts a few years back.

Hi Guys...I'm the guy building the Deora replica. I'm thinking that maybe for my next project, I would build a running version of either this car, or the Supercharger. Funny how things come around. I've  been thinking of this car for quite some time, and have actually started collecting info about it, and then I see this thread.....
The latest bit 'o info I've found: is about the body hanging in the rafters at Mr.Norm's shop.
According to a vintage HOTROD magazine, the "Flying Dutchman" funnycar was built using that very body...believe it. Straight from the pages of the magazine, quoting the driver of said funnycar. Now, I've also heard tell that there was a company in Detriot building copies of this body, years ago. I would like more info on that one...
I'm thinking that building this car won't be too awful hard either. A straight set of rails, basic crossmembers, and a body buck scaled up from the old Model kit would do the trick. The trick is gathering the "vintage" parts to make it look authentic!
I'm finding that building the Deora is quite simple...after all, it's just an A100 truck...with a lot of chopping! Again, the hardest part is collecting the "detail parts"...like authentic Stewart Warner greenline gauges...etc.

It was nice seeing the Diamante at Carslisle, I was surprised at the move on Juliano's behalf to sell the "super charger" showcar once it was in his posession!............it came as a package deal with the Diamante, .....from what I heard?.............$500,000 for both cars!........................Several cars that you don't hear or see of in print, are the RTS Cuda, the Duster I, and the Sonic Cuda.............anybody have vintage shots?...............would be interesting, as you don't see any lititure on these cars!I'm just curious to see what all the "hoopla" is over the RTS cuda, or Sonic Cuda is, I've seen photos back in the day but from what I remember these cars were quite hidieous!

TheAutoArchaeologist

the Charger III was not a one off car.  There was actually a mold made of the car and a few fiberglass body made from that.  There were actually suppsoidly 12 produced.  One being the show car, another being the drag car and 10 others.  Mr.Norm had a few of them, one Charger III body hanging from the ceiling in the 70's I heard before it fell apart, the show car was destroyed in storage and all the other body's were lost to time.

Isn't there a new book on Chrysler concept cars over the years which is supposed to feature some previously unseen photos of that car?
