charger almost fires but not quiet please help ...

ok here what i have going on ... i have a 440 and points ignition i know i know its suppose to have electronic but im just trying to get it to run so i can get it to my work and have them help me on the car ... ok but it wants to fire but it back fires through the carb or the exhaust depending on were we set the distributor it just wont quiet make it please help

sounds like you're either 180 off, or you got your firing order backwards. Dist. turns ccw on 440. Firing order is 18436572 :icon_smile_big:

Set the mark on the vibration damper to zero and with a timing light (ignition on but motor NOT running!) hooked to the number 1 spark wire you should see the light flicker on and off as you turn the distributor a bit. If it does not flicker at all it could be 180 out as mentioned above. Make sure your coming up on the compression cycle of the #1 cylinder when to the timing mark is on zero.

I had the same problem with points and I found out the condenser was bad! Make sure you put in a new one!
