The steering box in my 68 Charger seems to be worn and sloppy. There is about 60 degrees of play in the steering wheel before much happens. This makes it difficult to keep straight on the road. I have seen boxes advertised as rebuilt and having all new seals. Mine doesn't leak (seals), it just is loose and wanders around. ALL  front suspension and steering components have been replaced with new.  Bushings, drag link ,Pitman Arm, ball joints, tie rods and ends, etc. The only original part is the box. Has anyone else had experiences with this? I would appreciate some suggestions for a real fix. Thanks,

Dave,

Run a search here under "Loose steering boxes". At some point you might want to invest in a FirmFeel II box..........out-freakin-standing IMO>

Just buy a firm feel box and be done with it. I put a stage 2 on my 68 and it was well worth it. You won't regret it.

Sorry to hijack, but daves68 may be wondering the same thing.  What's the difference between a stage 2 and stage 3 unit from Firm Feel or Steer & Gear?  How do you decide which stage # to get?

Stage 3 is firmer. Not sure how much. Stage 2 was recomended to me by several people.
