My 1968 440 R/T charger that I have is missing the Fender tag and I would like to get a new one made.  I do not have the broadcast sheet for it, so I am trying to get a good idea of the build date from the vin.
My vin is XS29L8B250316 and the shipping order number is 060224 if that helps any.
From the research that I have done, I think it should be around the beginning of January of 1968, but I was hoping to get a more accurate estimate.
Any help would be great!
Thanks

Good luck with trying to get the information. Do you have a broadcast sheet?
There was a fellow on this forum that had a list of 1968 Charger VINs, and it might have been possible to approximate a build date by comparison to other Chargers.

I'm in the same boat as you.
1968 Plymouth Barracuda Formula S 340 convertible
1968 Dodge Charger R/T 426 Hemi 4 speed
1968 Plymouth Barracuda S/S clone 426 Hemi auto
1969 Dodge Deora pickup clone 318 auto
1971 Dodge Charger R/T 440 auto
1972 Dodge C600 318 4 speed ramp truck
1972 Dodge C800 413 5 speed
1979 Chrysler 300 T-top 360 auto

2010 Dodge Challenger R/T 6 speed

Seems making a fender tag without the broadcast sheet would be pretty tuff if not impossible.

The closest you can get to a build date is to find all the date coded parts and guess on an approximate time that is later.  But duplicating your fender tag without the original or a build sheet isn't just difficult, it's impossible.

Making a fender tag without a broadcast sheet is easy. People do it all the time. Making a correct and accurate fender tag without the original tag as a template is almost impossible.

There are a miilion stories in the naked city. Here's a guy that just spent over $200 to have someone make a bad tag.
