Is it true that the only Dana that got 11" drums brakes were the 3.54 geared rears? It is my understanding, that with the 4.10s, front disc brakes were mandatory ,which made the rear brakes 10".

:iagree: at least for '69 it was that way...either the A32 Super Performance Axle Package (4.10 with auto trans) or the A34 Super Track Pak (4.10 with 4-speed) included power front disc brakes....which also got you the 10" rear drums

The reason I ask is, the 69 R/T SE that I bought last year is a Track Pak car (4 speed 3.54 Dana). The driveline was gone when the previous owner bought it. He bought a '69 Dana rear that he said had 4.10 gears in. I haven't confirmed the actual gears that are in it yet. I was wondering if I can tell the original gear ratio of the rear by the numbers. I will see if i can post some pictures of the numbers. they are a little tough to read.

Thanks elacruze.
That chart is a big help.
It looks like the assy. date is Nov 21, 1968 (11 21 8B1). That would be correct for the '69 model year.
I guess the only other thing to do is figure out what gear is installed.
Is the ring gear stamped with the ratio as I've seen on 8 3/4 ring gears?

Yes or you could just count the teeth

I looked tonight. No gear ratio on the ring gear. How many teeth for a 3.54 and a 4,10?

If you want the 11x2.5 breaks you could find a set off of an 8 3/4 & bolt them on. I think you could also find the 11x3 backing plates & drums off of a station wagon, taxi or cop car with the 8 3/4. I think the 11x3 set ups were manual adjusters.

You have to divide the number of teeth on the pinion into the number of teeth on the ring gear to give you the ratio

I counted the number of teeth on the ring gear. It is 41. I did some searching on the net and found that the 4.10 gear set is 41 teeth on the ring gear and 10 on the pinion. If it was a 3.54 gear set, it would be 46 on the ring gear and 13 on the pinion.
At least I know what I have now. I have the correct year, originally 3.54 geared Dana, with 4.10 gears that someone put in. The ring gear has a double diamond symbol that looks like the Dana symbol so they are not cheapy gears.
Thanks to all for the help.
