Too loud? My dad only put performance mufflers on it. Good luck with the Charger, hope you two like it. :2thumbs:
When your Charger is sideways, just give it more gas!

My neighbors are rich yuppies so all the drive is late model Camry's, Accords, Yotas, etc. I'm actually surprised most of them mow their yards themselves.

terrible one

I've been really surprised at how well my neighbors have responded to the car. I live in a duplex so I was most worried about the guy sharing the place with me, but he's gone a lot and while he's not really into it, he doesn't mind and was happy to hear that I got it going. The rest of the neighbors I either don't hear a peep out of or they have come to check it out at least once. The kids around here love it!

I've been lucky (I guess) NIKKI'S got a VERY healthy rumble. I've gotten lots of compliments from my nieghbors (within a house or 2. But I've been here longer than they have. Am generally friendly/helpfull w car questions and that kind of thing. As people know what I do for a living. And dont take any crap!  :nana:

before i moved my charger to the hanger i rent. my neighbors loved my car. they used to help push it in my garage when i would push it out to wash it. after i got it running they would throw me the thumbs up. glad i had great people around me. i have moved since then and my neighbors have never seen the charger. i live in the middle of the colorado rockies. and noone at the airport cares about the noise. but lots of people stop by to check her out. guess i am lucky. :2thumbs: :2thumbs:

My neighbors didn't even know I had a Charger until I drove it home from my workshop licensed.
I'm sure they were thinking I traded my ex wife for it.
Most of them couldn't care less that I have it, except probably the woman next door who's bedroom is adjacent to my garage.
I only bring the car home from my shop if I'm heading out for a cruise or show early in the morning, so she's probably been pissed off with me a few times over the last couple of years... but who gives a?
Gotta love a '69

So what is the deal with motorcycle riders who do that? :shruggy: They act like the bike is going to die unless they keep wicking the throttle at stop lights. Can't they just leave it alone until it's time to go again?

It's purely a safety issue...  :yesnod:

My neighbors complained about not one but 2 things, one being my cars were too loud, and two being that I had too many of them....

They eventually got used to it....

It hasn't been a problem for me. Those loud firearms I own haven't been an issue either.  :scratchchin:

Well Lucky for me everyone around me had gotten use to my daily driver. my 318 v8 dodge dakota with dual exhaust lighting up to go to work at 5am every morning. so I think they have become immune to the weekend howls of the charger on occasion.   Actually all my neighbors are pretty cool about the whole car thing around my place.  :2thumbs:

A long time ago when I was living in the city,I started my 5.0 Mustang up to go to work(7:30). I forgot something in the house so I left the car on fast idle. I came out a minute later only to hear some lady yelling "shut that piece of shit off".......I kicked it down to idle, looked around.....again she repeated herself......now standing in the street looking to see who it was? no luck.....so I gave her something to bitch about. I side stepped the clutch and did a burnt out down the block. Never heard any yelling through the windows after that :D

Go to a Harley forum and ask the posers why they do it and half will tell you it's to let others know they're there for safety which is total B.S.  :smilielol:  and the other half will tell you they do it just because they want to and "if you don't like it shove it".  :nana:

Since my car isn't at home or finished I'm not sure what they are going to think when I leave for work at 6am on nice days. I had an 05 Magnum R/T with Borla exhaust that I know pissed a few people off at the end of our street. A lot of little Jettas,Civics etc blast up our street as it is the only cross street. The one little shyt always blows by in his fart can laden Jetta and he lives around the corner. I said to the wife when we were out for a walk the other night that he will definately be in for a blow by with 446 cubes when its done ;) Funny enough his old man has a big and loud Z71 and him and his cohorts drive the fart can cars.

 good job.... My 400C.I. Ford truck practically had straight pipes and I used to leave for work every morning at 5am.... I've also screeched tires on occasion in my area but nothing more then a chirp chirp.... I try to be respectful

One day when the kid down the road with a Chevelle was pissed off he really smoked up the joint when all my neighbors happened to be home, I got the blame for it from everyone....  :icon_smile_blackeye:

SRT-68

I was the rear house of a duplex and really pushed the envelope with noise. I built my entire car in the driveway including cutting up the two donor cars. The trick is to get to know the people that live around you. Anytime somebody stopped at the end of the driveway and looked in I gave them a wave. When dads stopped with their kids, I stopped what I was doing and invited them to come take a look. A lot of dads remember having a cool car and want their 5 year old to see one. Take time with the kids. A lot of teens have no interests other than sleeping in and the IPod. When several of the teens from the block started hanging around, asking questions and lending a hand the parents took notice. I was paying these guys a few bucks an hour and was getting my car done faster. Two of the guys who helped me build the SRT-68 went from getting high and doing nothing to getting sober and finding full time jobs with good pay. You are no longer a problem but are a solution.

What strain the neighbors are stupid stunts like burn outs, open headers at 11:30 at night and lblasting radios. When your buddies come over tell them to turn that sh1t down and drive like a rational person.

Here is what it was like at my house........

I try to be respectful, I idle in and out of my garage. But the whailer next door keeps sending her kid over to tell me the car is too loud coming in and out at night. So 1 night at 10 mins before the noise curfew, I started my 64 race car, no exhaust of course and held it at 2500 rpms for a few mins, then at 10, I shut it off, the cops showed up asked me what I was doing, I said just having a beer! She has never said another word since!

I used to live in an 1100 sq ft tract shack on a measly 1/8 acre. I had 2 cars in the garage, 2 in the driveway and one in the street. It was the first house that I owned. The house to the right was a rental and the other side was a nice couple that kept to themselves. I welded, painted cars, ran loud power tools, did motor swaps, scrapped and cut up cars..... AND had no problems from anyone.
I moved to a nicer part of town into a 1700 sq ft house on 1.2 acres. I built a 1600 sq ft shop 120 feet from the house complete with electricity and a vaulted ceiling in one section. Someday I want to install a two post car lift.
I now have no neighbor to the rear. On the left side, the neighbor has their house on the far end of their 2.8 acre parcel. My neighbor to the right is a granola munching, bicycle riding, "get in touch with mother earth" type. She does NOT like the Charger. She hates my '74 Dodge truck. I dont care though. I violate NO noise laws. I have NO stolen cars or parts here and I am not into drugs. If she ever gets a wild hair to call the cops on me, SHE will look like the idiot.

No neighbors at the new house and I doubt the forest critters will complain. The ones that complained about the shooting I haven't heard from lately. ;)

Stretch

I live in a tinny town in Upper Michigan. (72 houses). I never have had any problems with anyone. I have a racecar, a four-wheeler a, mini chopper, and a couple of dirt bikes along with may charger,a truck a neon and my wife's car. I build cars trailers, weld, and for the most part don't sleep. (5 hours a day perhaps) What I'm basically saying is DON'T $H!T WHERE YOU EAT! Be respectful to the people around you and they will do the same. Those who don't return the favor, ignore!
I may be schizophrenic but at least I have us!

bobs66440

I try to be as quiet and respectful as possible. My neighbors haven't said anything about the car, only about my son playing the drums in the garage...not complaining, just that they heard it.

UH60L

Haven't had mine running since it wen into the body shop in 2008, but before that, I drove it as a daily driver.  I would leave for work at 6:30 am, and my friend, two houses down and across the street, would leave for work at 7:30 in his '69 chevelle.

Most of the neighbors were ok with our old loud cars.  Talked to one guy who was wlaking his dog, and he said it was like having an alarm clock with a one hour snooze button.  Every morning at 6:30, vroom, rumble rumble rumble, then again at 7:30, hehe.

I have been pleasently surprised how many people in the neighborhood stop and ask about my car, and, as someone else said, even help me push it back in the garage on occasion.

So far, knock on wood, I've never had a complaint.  Many people have said they wish they had one.

DustinSimmonds

People mostly just want me to get it done, so they can have the chance to complain!  :smilielol: I do have a lot of the guys in the neighborhood stop by and talk to me about the cars they have had. The neighbor right behind my place had a '66 Charger. You never know whos part of the club.  :2thumbs:

I honestly don't know what they think.  I'm  sure it can't be good.  At 6 o clock in the morning I'm sure these people don't want to hear a 440 with dynomax ultra-flows idling faster as it warms up...

GunMetal

Haven't had any complaints. I live in a cul-de-sac, and leave for work at 5:30. 470 cu in 3" exhaust Dynomax ultra-flos also. I keep it at low idle and try to drive respectfully. Neighbor lady feels sorry for me "always having to work on the car".  :D Such is the hobby my friends :2thumbs:

What people next door think. . . ?
They seem to appreciate my being considerate of them. I always ease out of the neighborhood then what I do on the open road is another matter. I have nothing to prove and see no good reason to be antagonistic. Good neighbors are invaluable, besides I love the little kids around here, and try to set a good example for them.

I have posted a few pics of my small neighborhood.  Lately I have met a lot of interesting people.  The mailman always shuts his motor off and talks to me for a few minutes when he delivers and sees me outside.  Apperently he used to have a 68 and 69 back in the day. Would talk to me about all the good memories, and that he is looking forward to the progress I make each time he delivers.  Then there is my immediate next door neighbor, hes probably in his 60s, had an old 50s Mercury that was his pride and joy, but then got divorced and unfortunately had to get rid of it.  But he loves cars, always talking to vendors at car shows and giving me brochures and business cards (and his finished copy of Hemmings each month).  New neighbor that moved in a few weeks ago around the corner keeps coming by. 68 is his dream car! so he keeps drooling over it.  I think it is pretty cool though, because his son is probably 13? and when he comes by (when they walk the dog) he says, thats the Charger right dad? Thats cool!

pretty good neighborhood. no complaints.. I have my 03 Vulcan, with pretty loud pipes, and I will idle that thing at fast idle around 0600 waiting to go to work some days (no complaints) .  Just wish I could fit the car in the garage...  it sits under a car cover while I'm not touching it.
