Well, i got to see an advanced screening of the movie last night. Ludacris showed up before it started and told us to stick around for the credits... Im glad i did. Its the best of all of them. Also has the best plot, action, everything!

Kern Dog

The movie may be entertaining, but Ludacric is a punk ass poser.

so tell us about how much screen time the '70 Charger gets and it's fate this time around, that's what most of us are really interested in!

They (intentionally) wiped out at least two bare Charger shells for this movie.  One gets hit by an armored truck and the other had a bus rolled onto it.

I dunno if they wrecked any other running stunt cars or not.

Ponch ®

Gonna see it tonight at some sort of "premiere"/"screening" with a bunch of people from SoCalLX. Im pretty sure it's gonna suck, but the price is right (free) and I get to hang out w/ some of my buddies.

In any case, I'll try to post my thoughts (maybe even a brief review) on this flick tomorrow.

The charger actually gets alot of screen time. 80% of the time, hes driving it. You think its going to make, ( spoiler alert) but the rock does something to it. Pissed me off! The safe scene with the newer srt8 chargers was a little over done but it was still the best one since the first.. If not better. Best plot by far! I liked the all blacked out look of the charger in this one. Sure as hell made me wish mine was driveable..

Had more cars destroyed than any movie i can remember...

Stay past the main credits.....

I think so. I hated gi joe so much that i really didnt paynthat much attention. Yeah, after the credits it leaves you hanging. Big time..

FLG

I saw it last night....

When the dam charger gets hit I think I was the only one in the theatere to yell out "nooo" and tuck my head between my legs.

Besides that it was a very entertaining movie.

Ponch ®

Ok, saw it last night.

Some thoughts:

It's a decent movie. Fairly entertaining, for what it's worth. Think Ocean's Eleven (the Clooney/Pitt remake) on wheels. But F5 lacks the humor/cleverness of Ocean's Eleven, so it has to resort to the usual action movie stuff - car chases (to be fair, that's to be expected), explosions, shoot-outs, and violence. As I said to one of my buddies who was complaining about the implausibility of the plot / action scenes / technology: it's a movie...it necessarily requires a suspension of disbelief in order to entertain you. When you go see Star Wars, you know Darth Vader doesn't really exist, but that doesn't mean it cant be fun to watch.

And yes, a 70 Charger does get destroyed. Though that was to be expected, I was a little disappointed that at least in the previous movies it went out in a blaze of glory - not so in this case.

On a side note, now that I drive a "hero" car (blacked out new Charger w/ an srt-8 hood and whatnot), I'm pretty sure every douchebag in a civic or tricked out VW Jetta that pulls up next to me at a red light is gonna try to go at it.

Just saw it,thought it was really good all around. As with any movie today, they leave you hanging, just in case they want to make another.....Won't say any spoiler kind of info, but the movies cast suprised me.

I wonder how long before we see somebody cruising a flat-black modern Charger with a rollcage around the rearend.  The movie car replica hobby isn't just confined to vintage rides.

Landonsrt

I hope the latter doesnt happen. At least for me to see. I was disapointed the charger died... Not being driven. Was more disapointed that it didnt make a miraculous appearance at the end like it did in f4 after what i thought was its destruction in the tunnel.. Guess i was wrong.

I saw the movie last night.  Enjoyed it a lot.  Even my GF liked it.

They're making less and less of a "car movie" each time lately.  Ponch is right, this one feels like F&F with an injection of "Ocean's Eleven" thrown in.  They actually cut away from a street race about to start at one point.  The franchise is being turned into more of a heist/caper type of series with just a heavy dose of car action being involved.

The two big action scenes both demanded major suspension of disbelief, but they made it fun enough to be worth it.
