roller rocker choice

Need to ditch the proform rockers I have for something stonger. What are the suggestions?    440, 10:1, eddy heads, comp cam xtreme high lift cam.   I'm currntly looking at the harland sharps. I want something that comes with shafts shims and spacers

I used Hughes, and the fit/geometry is perfect. I did have to trim the shaft hold-downs though, they were too wide and I only used two or three shims in the entire setup after machining. The only other roller rockers I've used on Mopar are Mopar Performance, and although they centered on the valve OK the geometry was less than perfect and they were noisy.

Yes -They come with shafts and shims  but their hold downs are a separate kit---which I bought

The hughes look really nice but are backordered. I may have to go with the hs. I want to get this engne up and going and drive the car this year

As an aside, it's a bit sad that the Mopar ones would have poor geometry.

yes, it's unfortunate. I do have to say that they've withstood all the abuse I heaped on them with a .509 cam and dual valve springs. I've never had to adjust them after the initial 100 mile touch-up. None of that may be relevant, I bought them in 1982.

Probably makes it worse, that was the era when they were supposed to be THE choice for us.  Oh well, at least they took the abuse and there are better choices today.

I ran proforms on my engine before. I broke pushrod cups and had to machine spacers for them cause the springs they came with let the rocker walk off the tip...

On the new stroker I am running Comp Pro Magnum steel full rollers...we'll see how they stand up

FWIW- The Hughes rocker arms are shipping again. Mine were backordered from mid March. I just got them yesterday. It was a production issue that has been resolved.

The story i got when I asked why there was such a delay (they were ordered in March and i got them last week) was that Hughes was having them made by someone else and that company went belly-up. So, Hughes bought the tooling and are now making their own rocker arms in-house.

Glad to see hughes is still funcitoning. Ive been out of the mopar performance scene for awhile so I did not know if they stuck around.
