Fitting a Tach in the original instrument panel?

I was just wondering if anybody has successfully installed an aftermarket tach where the tic toc or in my case the dummy face plate goes? If so what which tach did you use? I would like to fit a tach in place of my dummy face plate to get a clean look

I've got the charger specialties tach in mine. Looks original and fits like a glove.

I just ordered the Tic-Toc-Tac. Apparently it is better and more accurate then an original.

The tach only without the clock is easier to see

People have replaced all of the stock gauges with Autometer gauges and look quite good. All depends how original you want it to look

I really just want to get an aftermarket tach that will fit in place. Doesn't have to be a tic toc just wondering if there was a certain brand or which had the best results with out to much modifying

for the charger specialties non clock tach the only modification is to drill a hole in the firewall. Fits right in the dash and works perfectly with msd or any new electronic boxes without getting a tach adapter. and it looks like it could have came from the factory like that.

seen quite a few different  makes  been put in there  over the years various sun & SW plus  others  , before these repop tictoctachs came about !!  to me  why give your self work trying to make something fit & will look out of place with the other stock gauges !!     get e ticktoctach  or one of them tach only versions
