Ok... here is what I've heard.

The Movie will be out on DVD this fall, it will pertain to part of season 4, but will also tell of the Pegasus.  They said there is something about the two that they are going to bring up, that hasn't been brought up before.  I think it will be something about the melding of the two crews and the past problems on Pegasus coming over to Galactica.

The movie will then premiere in the late fall, winter time.

I can't wait for the movie, but waiting til 08 for the return of Galactica is INSANE.

Ryan

What I read was that the show would air on TV first and be available on DVD the following business day. Not to nitpick but just wanted to get the info out there. It's the same link Johnny SixPack posted above: http://www.salon.com/ent/feature/2007/03/24/battlestar/

In it Moore also mentions the possibility of the show ending after season 4, which makes sense to me actually. Here's part of it:

Interviewer: We won't be seeing Season 4 until January 2008, but I understand there's going to be some kind of miniseries or movie coming before then?

Moore: There is something that they're calling "extra episodes" or "extended episodes" -- they keep shifting the nomenclature. Essentially, we are shooting two hours of "Galactica" that will be broadcast on SciFi Channel sometime in the fall. Let's say they broadcast it on a Friday; then, on the following Monday, it will be available on DVD.

That story will not pick up our cliffhanger at the end of Season 3. That didn't seem right. The story will be set on the Battleship Pegasus and will take place in the past, relative to where we are in Season 3. But the events set up in that story will then pay off in Season 4.

Interviewer: What was the reasoning behind doing that?

Moore: They came to us. It gives Home Video something to sell in the stores. Since we won't be back until January, which is a long time to be off the air, it gives the fans something to see and keeps the show alive. So it serves multiple masters. There was no way we could pick up the cliffhanger in that format, and then ask people to wait to really start the season later. One of the story lines everyone had really liked was the Pegasus story and the character of Admiral Cain, so we decided to go with that.

Battlestar Ending Next Season

The producers of SCI FI Channel's Battlestar Galactica confirmed that the upcoming fourth season will be the show's last. Executive producers Ronald Moore and David Eick said that it was a creative decision to end the acclaimed series with the upcoming 22-episode season.

"This show was always meant to have a beginning, a middle and, finally, an end," Eick and Moore said in a statement on May 31. "Over the course of the last year, the story and the characters have been moving strongly toward that end, and we've decided to listen to those internal voices and conclude the show on our own terms. And while we know our fans will be saddened to know the end is coming, they should brace themselves for a wild ride getting there: We're going out with a bang."

In November, a special two-hour Battlestar episode, "Razor," will air. The fourth season kicks off in early 2008.

At last month's Saturn Awards, Edward James Olmos said that the upcoming season would be the show's last, prompting Eick to say at the time that no decision had been made. "I promise you that when Ron and I make a decision about Galactica's future, we'll let you know," he said then.

It feels odd to say this but I'm glad they are ending it with season four. As much as I love BSG and would like to see it go on for several more seasons, I just don't think they could sustain the drama that long. It definitely wouldn't do the story any justice if were dragged out longer than necessary.

I agree with you. And it is always best to go out on top of your game as that is what you will always be remembered for. And I believe this will be remembered for being one of the best TV series of all time. (least in Sci Fi).  :yesnod:

And 22 episodes is 22 weeks of shows. So, it will be a long season too.

So what is the deal with that Pegasus movie? Any News?

And what about the new series "Caprica"?

This is all the updates I've heard.

There are going to be another set of mini-episodes leading up to the Battlestar Pegasus movie "Razor".  They will be on I think during Eureka and online.  They will be available on the "Razor" DVD when released the day after the movie is shown.

This is the last season of BSG.

Farscape is coming back in Mini-Episode form as well.... yeay!

That's too bad, but at least you weren't referring to the upcoming Pegasus project or the final season of BSG.

I never could get into Farscape; not a big fan of puppets. I'd rather see Firefly come back.

Starting tomorrow (Oct. 5) the SciFi Channel will be showing BSG: Razor "flashbacks" every Friday during Flash Gordon as they gear up for the two-hour episode that will air on Nov. 24th.

"Written by Michael Taylor and directed by Wayne Rose and Felix Alcala, these intense, roughly two-minute segments tell the story of young William "Husker" Adama's rookie Viper mission during the first Cylon war. In addition to fighting for his very survival against relentless Cylon centurions, Adama makes a terrifying discovery that will come back 40 years later to threaten him, the crew of the Pegasus and the survival of the human race."

Fyi, if/when the writers strike happens, they are probably going to show half the episodes in Summer/Fall of 08 and the rest in spring of 09.
