WOW! All hell is going to break loose next week! I also have a feeling Sharon will die or go AWOL. And it seem they figure out Boltar is working with the cylons too next week.

Next week looks to be a damn good episode.  I was wondering when they would mount the rescue mission back to Caprica.

And next week they have 90 mins to get us all worked up and then leave us on pins and needles till July.  :icon_smile_dead: :icon_smile_big:

Watch out for the big 'pitch'.  :icon_smile_wink:

Awesome fraking show. Loosing a raptor in a mountain was kinda... eww ;)

Well, the scene is set for what may go down. My predictions. The Caprica boomer is going to switch places with the boomed that went on the rescue mission. It just makes more sense to me, After all. She really wants to get back home and will be a lot more help. The Sharon on the rescue mission wants revenge for what happened to her baby. It would just make more sense for her to stay.

It's good to see Starbuck "buck up" and start to do her job and stop with the moral dilemmas every week. she looks to be in gear.

and I agree. Baltars time is running out. But I wonder were he's going to go? I don't see him on a basestar like the original show. hmmmmm. How will Baltar Defect. good room for debate there.

Next week, agreed, all hell is gonna break loose, all we need is another 3 way with the battlestars and a Baseship.

??? WTH? This thread is still alive? I'm not knocking sfi-fi, I just dont get Galactica...I mean it's not anything that hasnt been done before...several times... Enjoy it, I just prefer the old overacting days of Cap'n Kirk & especially Irwin Allens Lost in Space. I think those two shows really pioneered the sftv genre. And Trek & LIS both had their share of hot space ladys too!  :yesnod:

Khyron

I think this thread has been adopted for our weekly posts on the show ;)

don't worry, this Friday is the season fanally and you won't have to see this thread for a while after that :D

but I'll dig it back up when it's season 3 :nana:

but, I'll bite. I like galactica because it really isn't whats been done before. little things like true physics on the ships, everything looks real and tangable, Galactica isn't some sleek, smooth, take a million torpedo's and come back for more shit. it's construction looks like something that could be built. The characters are well thought out and the drama keeps you on the edge of your seat. It's a soap more then a show. Don't get me wrong, I'm a Star Trek fan as well, when I want my mindless fun entertainment I put in a voyager DVD. Galactica has a true story line and keeps me on the edge of my seat.

This is at least why I really enjoy it.

ive seen four of the new shows, but im confused... can anyone explain the story line to me?.. there seem to be cylon clones hidden around the show and folks talking with their imaginary cylon lovers?. Is that right?. is there anyway to get the cliff notes?..  ???

TheGhost

The way the series is set up, to know what all is going on, you have to watch the Miniseries that started it, then watch it all from episode 1.  Otherwise, you'd probably get lost pretty easily.

Bit Torrent has all teh shows available to download. Also you can purchase / rent the first 4 hour show.

Other then that, when I get home and have some time, i'll type up a basic outline.

I'm going to stay fairly basic, and I'm sure people will jump in with there own interpretations of events.

It starts as such, there are / were 13 colonies of these people that built the Cylons <Robots> as servants, the cyclones rebelled and started a great war with the 13 colonies. At the wars end a pact was made between the people and the cyclones, and part of the pact, every year there would meet as a remote station. The Cyclons never showed, therefore not much was know about them. After about 40 years. They showed.

Characters.

President Laura Rosin: She was 43rd in line in the government, when the sneak attack on Caprica started, (basically nuked) she was the only member of government left, she and Admiral Adama had there issues, but she convinced him Government still needs to exist, Therefore she because the president of the 13 colonies survivors, she had Breast cancer and was dieing, The blood from the baby that was in boomer destroyed the Cancer and saved her live,

William Adama: He was a Viper pilot when he was younger and during the great war became the captain of the Battlestar Galactica. Cylons where able to break into computer systems being robots themselves so most of the old Battlestars never had networked computer systems, that was the ships couldn't be infiltrated. This basically Saved Galactica's ass when the Cylones re appeared.

Lee Adama: The captains son, He has major issues with his Father, His father basically taught them "a man isn't a man unless he's a viper pilot" This (as well as other things) was ultimately responsible for Lee's brothers death, he just wasn't cut out to be a pilot, Lee has a lot of anger for his Father

Starbuck "Kara Thrace: She is your basic Bad ass, hate authority character, much like the original, however, female (hot too IMO) She was actually in love with Lee's brother, and was in a relationship with him, she also passed his flight test and was also responsible for his death, she harbors a lot of demons and inner turmoil, She admitted to this already. The show is building her as a tough ass with a lot of personal problems, I'm personally looking forward to learning more about this, she's the one to watch.

Gaius Baltar: this is a tough one to be honest, Baltar is a genius, however his ego got him involved a big mess, Number 6, a cylon basically used him because he was writing "Programming" the code that the colonies defenses where based on. A lot of debate can be had about what's going on with him, He may be crazy, he may be going through a nervous breakdown, but he is a wolf in sheep's clothing, he's the one to watch. You see him often "Talking to himself" basically number 6 is in his head, if you look back to our conversations in this thread you can see what's going on is still in debate, I think it's his conscience. Some believe Number 6 planted something in his head (as she told him) but he's in the process of trying to get the presidency. If this happens. It's going to be bad.

Col. Saul Tigh: Second in command of the Galactica, also a drunk. There hasn't been a lot about him, I think he's just a bitter old man that was about to retire and it more pissed that he can't then anything.

Lt: Sharon Valerii "boomer": this gets a bit complicated. She was a sleeper agent, basically a Cylon that didn't know she was a cylon, and she's having some issues with the fact that she is, well, she did,.... This is where it gets complicated, the Sharon you are watching now is not the one from the beginning, The original... if you can use that died, however, she woke up on Caprica (Cylons can't die, they are "reborn" into a new host body) The Sharon that's on Galactica now came back with Helo (another character) and since they found out the original was a Cylon, They knew she was too....if your confused... join the club ;)

Numer 6: A lot is still not know about her motives (besides being a Cylon and wanting to kill humanity) She used Baltar to change the code in the colonies military defence so that the Cylons could attack, however she fell in love with him, She got killed (the one in love with Baltar) in the first attack, the last few shows have showed THAT clone back on caprice showing remorse, but the one you see Baltar talking to is... well, she just isn't right.

She got pregnant while on the planet trying to rescue Helo (he got left behind by the original Boomer in the very first show.

There are a lot more players, but this will give you the basic idea.

The Cylons are mysterious, and not a lot is known about then, they turn up a lot because they are looking for this "rag tag fugitive fleet" and this is when they appear a lot, also, like the fleet, they need fuel and supplies as well. It would take me forever to type up each show. I'm sure others will add, for more info on the people I left out I would suggest the website http://www.scifi.com/battlestar/

I'll warn you. Once you get hooked, you're hooked.

BTW: to get you up to date: The Pegasus is another Battlestar that was though to have been loss; the captain was a crazy chick and was killed by another number 6.  ohhh I forgot to explain her.... I'll post back up about her in a second.

The Pegasus is an extremely military ship, Galactica is a bit more laid back, it was going to be decommissioned and made into a museum (funny stuff on the very first show) In the original series the Pegasus made it one show before it got destroyed (still up for debate if it was) this is why we are surprised it's still around.

I'm sure I've left a million gaps and well, you most likely have a ton more questions, but that may get you a bit up to speed about the show and the main players...

My fingers hurt.

I started watching solely because I loved it in the 70's when I was a kid.  Now, I can't stop.  Very good show.  Very good special effects.  I like that when they fly in space, there is almost total silence...very effective.

the best is when the nuke went off and the debris hit and cracked the camera.

Little touches like this make the show great!

I liked that effect also.

I tried to explain this to another so called BS fan ::)

Baltar was responsible for the destruction of Caprica, he allowed SIX to destroy the defense system and render them, well defenseless.
Fast forward and lo and behold who brings the civilization to a grinding halt again? Baltar.  He gave that warhead to another SIX who detonated it, and then the Cylons picked up the radiation on their scanners and went to check it out.  So again, a SIX used Baltar (unknowingly) to catch the humans off guard, it was history repeating itself and I love it.  Those frackers are smart.

My only problem is that how can the Cylon sensors detect the radiation from a year old blast in an area that was supposedly so screwed up with interference that sensors were rendered useless?

Maybe all will be answered in October  :brickwall:

bull

Sorry but I have to dredge this thread back up because I just got done watching "Lay Down Your Burdens Part 2" and man, I did not expect anything like what happened in the last two episodes. Roslin tried to steal the election, was morally convicted for it by Adama and so they allowed Baltar to take the office of president. He ordered the fleet to settle on the surface of New Caprica and all he did after that was lay around the office with a few honeys nearby until the Cylons showed up and took over. So that's all we get until the new season? Man, that really sucks. The show is awesome! I can't believe there would be any BSG purist out there so thick-skulled as to ignore this show or object to it based on its diversion from the original. The original show is a complete, pathetic joke compared to this one, and I really liked the original show.

FYI, for anyone who hasn't seen the show and would like a taste of it there's a free episode (and it's a good one) called "Scar" on the SciFi Network website. It's a good stand-alone episode so there's not a lot of stuff going on that requires backstory to understand. When you go here: http://www.scifi.com/battlestar/ just find and click on the link at the right that says: Watch "Scar" in its entirety.
