My Daytona's next look... NASCAR steelies

OK, I'm bored here at my desk getting ready for lunch and monitoring my production seismic jobs.

Well, thought I'd share my potential change of pace look. Apparently, it looks like I'll be keeping this Daytona of mine since no one thinks it's worth what I'm asking and the bidding ( not that that's a reflection of the true value) isn't getting any higher than say $90K. Pete, I'm still holding out hope...

But regardless. I'm sending off some clusters to Shannon at redlinegaugeworks and saw this image on his homepage top banner. I LOVE the look... Would love to find some of them older NASCAR Eagles with either the raised yellow or white letters. I think the Eagle GT II's I have on the car now are still available. 15x8 steelies powder coated semi-gloss-to-gloss black should do the ticket..

I'm sorry, but the modern D hole stock car wheels just do not look right on a wing car.    It's a tough look to get right because the original wheels are 5 on 5 and are pretty much unobtanium.   I also think the yellow "look at me" tars look hokey.  But that's just me.

Bart Wheels make the early 70's GN 5 slot wheel off the original tooling.  I think they can do them 15 x 8 and the smaller bolt pattern.  This is what used to be called the Clement Wheel.   At least some Daytonas ran these in 1971.

I was thinking of the solid OEM mopar steelies, not the multiple hole wheels in the picture.. But, now that you have shown them Doug, I too think the 5 oval-hole wheels in the vintage picture there is the key... I think I will investigate that company.......  :2thumbs:

PS: The picture I posted and the one tan did look to be the same car, the car Julius did some time ago.........

Here's a couple of threads with another car or  two with them.  The yellow letter tires have been discontinued for years.  I liked them too but couldn't find any anywhere.  If you find a supply of them still left let me know.

I'm a big fan of the black steelies with lettered tires. The Daytona posted by Tan Top looks the business  :drool5:

Here's a shot of my 500 with one of the wheel options I'll be using

"An aggressive exterior with power to match was enough to pull in the performance boys-especially when abetted by a pair of pipes blaring out the back, and brawny red-sidewall rubber hitting the pavement."

"........the four speed box changes cogs with the precision of a sharp axe striking soft pine."

I had that problem once with a new set, ended up finding some good original R/T springs... It'll look great with it lowered slightly....

I wonder what happened to that car hauler. That would be a great one to find.

Troy, I think that you should just give in and take my bid of $90k for your car.  :nana:

Nope wasn't me. Just yanking your chain. If I had $90K right now I'd probably make you an offer of that plus my car but I'm short of that at this current time.

This new house is costing me an arm and a leg. Costing me about $150 a week in gas just to go to work now that I live 57 miles (each way) from my job.
