I dont know what it is. The economy, the disasters happenin all over the world, getting older but lately I just dont feel like myself anymore. Just wondering if anyone else here in my mid 40s is experiencing the same thing right now. I'm still doing things I love. turning wrenches, traveling, music listening. but for some odd reason I just feel....I dont know. like I'm here but not here. Anyone else got anything else to add? :shruggy:

I turn 44 next week and I kind of feel the same way.
The future looks sort of bleak right now although its happened before (skyrocketing gas and food prices, unemployment) it will get better eventually.

Cut out talk radio and the news for a while.  It helps.

Wait a minute, i turn 36 next week and i sometimes feel this way.  Are you telling me it doesnt get any better in the 40's either?   Is that why your early 20's are the best time of your life?   :scratchchin:    :icon_smile_big:

watch this and feel better..  :pity:

I make decision with precision
Lost inside this manned collision
Just to see that what is to be
Perfectly my fantasy

I came to know with now dismay
That in this world we all must pay
Pay to write, pay to play
Pay to cum, pay to fight

And all in time,
With just our minds
We soon will find
What's left behind

Not long ago when things were slow
We all got by with what we know
The end is near. Hearts filled with fear
Don't want to listen to what they hear

And so it's now we choose to fight
To stick up for our bloody right
The right to sing, the right to dance
The right is ours... We'll take the chance

A peace together
A piece apart
A piece of wisdom
From our hearts

Actually, I have felt this way for a while too.  Only thing I can attribute it to is the winter blues and that the economy sucks and my job is still up in the air.  But I have a family that loves me, house with a roof over my head, and three beautiful girls that love me also.  (just to clarify, 2 daughters and my wife)

It's a stressful time,.. for any number of reasons, aging, the economy, the Govt. is wringing their hands and... and TV Sucks! get some exercise, take care to eat right, and realize what's important isn't out there... it how you treat people.

I been feeling the same for about 2 years now.

My biggest problem is my body is turning to shit.  Every since I had that disc act up in my lower back  my body has went down hill.  I cant drink much beer anymore. I dont tolerate various things anymore like sugar and caffiene like I once did. I was on ibuprofen around the clock for months during the disc problem and that has made me less tolerant of difference things like the beers and cigars.

Every morning I wake up I feel like dog shit deluxe for about 2 hours. Stiff and sore and stooped over like I am 100 yrs old. Doesnt matter if I laid around the day before, busy at work or excercised. All my joints are cracking and popping when I move. Got a foot that is fine one minute and out of the blue the next step I take it hurts so bad I limp or cant walk then goes away.

I have no desire to do any major work on a vehicle anymore. It just hurts too bad the following day and I dont want to risk stirring up that disc in my back.

What I think I need to do is a lifestyle change. Quit drinkin beer and smokin cigars and eat different. its rough getting old!   :-\

Todd I know precisely what you mean. I hit 58 in November. In my mind I'm still 35-40 and want to do all the stuff I did at that age. Its not working out so well. In Sept 09 my life changed forever and not in anyway I'd ever imagined.......pix says it all. This was a result of my former career but didn't become an issue until 5 years after I retired! Figures huh? Along with this truck chassis bolted to my spine I have all the aches/pains we all enjoy as we age. I particularly like the jolts of pain from outta nowhere.......WTF is that all about? Thankfully I can still walk, function semi-normally and take care of my wife. If I do something that involves repeated bending/twisting my legs get weak, my balance goes to hell and I have to sit down for a while. Its just my lot in life now. My story of woe isn't any different than your walk down the same creaking popping aching path. We are all passengers on the pain train now. I used to be strong, had buff arms and no "dunlaps disease". Everyday I wonder where my arms went and pray my feet are still there because I can't see 'em over the shadow of my gut. We have our first local car show tomorrow and will show the charger for the first time. I've been prepping the car all week and thought I'd put some new shocks on it. Worked on this for TWO days........about freaking killed me. Advil is my lover these days. When you're hurting guys and gals, I'm right there with you!

I hear you on that one Todd.  Changed my leaf springs and rear shocks a couple of weeks ago and felt like crap for days. Getting old.

My weight & diet & exercise habits fluctuate a lot.  It never ceases to amaze me how much different I can feel depending on my body's condition.

I think a lot of the physical stuff that we write off as signs of aging are really symptoms of neglect.  It gets a lot harder to keep your body in good shape when you're older but IMHO it's still possible.

I think you are right!   My diet and weight fluctuates  especially thru winter. I used to walk 2 miles a day. Stopped when it got cold.

Well the 3 mile trip to the lake helped. I feel a little better and got some awesome photos up there. They have these cool old mines you can explore and we had a real good time checking those out. I'll post pics later after I get a shower.  :eek2:

Yes.  sometimes I feel exactly like you posted.  Not sure if it's age ( 55 ) or the wife buried in Nursing school so I'm a Mr Mom most of the time, and a single parent the other half.  Thank God she'll be done in May and hopefully we can live again.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

I think this is a very valid point in my case anyway. My diet is often inconsistent. Customers dont care if you had lunch/will have lunch/wont have lunch. Being in business I think make things worse. And stress......... no no not me...  ::)

really liked the first video a lot.  :2thumbs: what's the story on the mine?..  :popcrn:

70charginglizard

not a whole lot to tell. The mines were dug out 100 years or so ago by local minors searching for gold, copper and silver. Now there just left open for the adventurous explorer wanting to just go up to check them out. Just something cool to do over the weekend. :2thumbs:

I'm 41 and I feel the exact same way lately.  I don't know about world events because truth be told as long as I'm not in it I'm kind of relieved, "there but for the grace of god" and all that shit.  I try to look at it objectively like a math problem.  The rest of the world has always been a swirling couldron of misery of sorts filled with the same dirtbags now as before, work is work...it always blows on some level.  so what's so different now, whats there that wasnt before?  I really think it's the economy/gas prices.  I think the uncertainty of losing even the best job on a whim and then pumping that juice in your tank at 75 bucks a pop wears on a guy.
