Anyone got an idea what this is?  From what I can tell the Distributor is wired into it, Some wires coming from the Bulkhead, and The negative wire from the Ignition coil goes into it.  I've looked on my diagrams, but can't find anything on it.  Thanks

not for that year at least... optional equipment by certain 72s engine options and become standart equipment in 73, then Direct Connection offered the conversion kit for earlier systems IN PERFORMANCE form ( more RPMs than stock )

orange is the basic performance one, then chromed, then gold ( just for race )

stocks where black initially then blue

Might be a dumb question but here goes: Is there any advantage to be gained by switching out my orange box to a chrome one ? I mean will it make the engine rev harder or is it more a case of "better for a harder revving engine?
Gotta love a '69

its a jump from 6K to 8K on RPMs limit/top response. I have heard also better response in the run, but I have not experienced and compaired one against the other. I have used Chromed though not oranges. Chrome againt stock ( actually aftermarket replacement "cobra" brand blue box ), yes is noticeable, better start up.

NEED TO NOTE Mopar ECU modules are having quality issues latelly for some years now. The common agreement it was oranges were the ones getting problems, BUT I have seen/have 3 chromes failing in a row. Being overseas THATS HARD!!!

Then the other option is to use FBO products what nobody here will tell you things but GOOD stuff, and in fact will be adviced BUT I have read splitted opinions about FBO too at Moparts.

nothing wrong with what you said, just that I wanted to be more specific to let him know is not something "WEIRD" to add and actually more common than he can think being actually a Mopar original upgrade.

Part of this upgrade is also use ELECTRONIC voltage regulator, saving from electrical noises caused by mechanical relay kind regulators.

And a personal advice, get a better alt, 50 amps-60 amps as MINIMUN requirement, more the best, keeping away from 41 amps used on 60s cars. Lack of power coming from alt causes overheats on module, melting the back epoxy, then shorting out modules when water gest into the circuit.
