How do you mount your fire extinguishers?

I'm a stock restoration but I'm ok with the fire extinguisher being visible, I don't have a roll cage.  Do you guys mount them somewhere inside the cabin?  Do you mount them in the trunk?  Do you just lay them on the floor in the back?  I'd prefer not drilling or screwing something into my car, but for a good idea I might be ok with it.  I was thinking about possibly just sticking some velcro to the extinguisher and letting it grab onto the carpet behind the passenger bucket seat.

I have this extinguisher.  http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HTR-HG250B/

Please supply ideas and pictures if possible.

mine fits perfectly in the console with a little room to spare. i block it in with some stuff so it won't roll around.
i like the velcro idea,.. i got some right here...

Mine is usually under the seat or on the passenger side floor.  It's just loose but it's close at hand.

I'll try under the seat.  My interior is gutted right now, I am fishing for ideas for when I get to that point.  I bought the 2.5 pound extinguisher, it's too big for the glove box or the console.

In my Road Runner the 2.5 extinguisher fits perfectly in the rear driver seat under the arm rest. Passenger has plenty of room (though it's rare). Yes I drilled holes in the panel to mount the straps.

Just like I described, real plain, nothing fancy. But it doesn't roll around.  :D

It looks like it stands out but only because of the flash for the pic. Even in the sunlight you really cannot see it in the corner and the arm rest hides it well. It couldn't be more accessable yet inconspicuous. Reach it over the seat or thru the window. Don't have to open doors or reach under the seat. Halon by the way. Only type that should be in your car.  :Twocents:

I have my flashy race helmet sitting in the middle of the seat, near it, so it looks pretty cool at shows. Still room for a passenger or two.

Great timing, I'm buying an extinguisher or two this week.

Type? I'd never EVER use a dry chemical extinguisher on my car, I'd feel bad about putting out your lawn mower with one of those. CO2 or Halon-Heck, I didn't even know you could get a hand held Halon.

Pros-Cons? Why Halon vs CO2? Size?

I intend to have one small one in the passenger compartment, and a large one in the trunk (for your car, not mine hopefully)

Good question.  I thought halon was for confined spaces. Which would probably work in the passenger compartment, but would it work under the hood?

I like this idea best for my co2 bottle, out of the way yet right there if you need it. With funds tight, co2 was the choice I made. Thanks aliens for giving us velcro!
