It could have been unreliable, embarrassing, butt ugly or just an all-around POS!

Mine was my '67 Chevelle (around 1977). That thing left me stranded EVERYWHERE. I don't know how many starters I replaced in that car laying in the snow in my driveway... :RantExplode:

...or was it my 1980 Bertone (Fiat) X-19. Yeah, that's probably it.  :yesnod:

I had a 72 Vega for a short time.  It had an aluminum block and every time it got warmed up the spark plugs would come loose and bing ,bing bing, bing up against the the bottom of the hood :rotz:

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

I guess the worst one I had was the '78 Scout I bought a couple years back. I bought it from a used/classic car lot in Ill. They told me it ran out good and had the typical Scout rust in the rear fenders. Ok fine. I paid $2300 for it and another $500 for them to deliver it here. I got it home and never could keep it running. I put a total of 15 miles on it. The floor pans were rotted out and so were the rockers. When you would sit in it you had to lean towards the center or you would take a good chance of falling thru the floor. I finally got it running one day and the transmission came out of it while I was trying to back it off of my of ramps after I had just replaced the gas tank. :brickwall: I was close to $4k in it when I sold it for $500 to get it out of my yard.

I bought a brand new '75 Valiant Brougham that had crap for dealer support, and had the worst electrical system in the world.  When the AC, heater and radio all failed at once, the dealer told me I should just learn to live with it after the third try at fixing it.  The lights would quit working, but only at night.  I quickly learned to hate that car.  That was the last MOPAR I owned until my midlife crisis took me back to the 66 Chargers.  That car alone was reason enough for Chrysler to fold.  At least the Dealer went out of business.

I also had a 60 ford with a 312 and Fordomatic out of a T-bird that wouldn't start on a cloudy day, or if the temp was below 35 but it was a $10 car so I felt no attachment to it and wasn't terribly concerned about its reliability.  That car was probably towed or pushed to start it almost as many miles as I drove it.  When you're 17 it's not such a big deal.

My '89 New Yawker, Mark Cross Edition,.. Looked great, brand spankin new,.. 44K miles, only church driven. I talked the dealer down from the 5.5 K they wanted to 2.3K... 9 Years. ago..
Really the car was Absolutely cherry, but not up to my lead foot. this was based on a Mitsu drivetrain,   a   Luxo four-door on a minivan chassis. lotsa bells and whistles, digital dash, Black with a Bordello Red Leather interior, GREAT SEATS!!
I wore that car out inside a year with monthly sprints to Reno Nv. Perfect for a Lil old lady but certainly not for me...
The 300 M that replaced it is literally 10 times the car.
I was looking for an M when i spotted that NYer,.. it was in such good shape I had to make the lowball offer,.. they called me a few times and finally I bought it,.. it was a good stopgap till i finally found my M. but i prolly shouldn't have drove it like the Charger...  :shruggy:

New '68 Charger R/T....Had four wheel drum brakes that would never stop the car from speed properly.  Even had new drums and linings installed.  It had a warped valve at 20k miles that was repaired under warranty.  At 30k miles it was making a loud clanking sound under the right front fender amongst various other strange noises.  At that point in my life I wasn't much of a mechanic, so I traded it in on a '69 VW.  Oh, and the window crank knob broke off ...twice!

Oh thats a easy one,  hands down a 1979 Ford LTD, that Ford rust red color, its only saving grace was it had a 302 in it.  This car had everything wrong with it, but it just wouldnt die.  I finally gave it to my (ex) father in law.   Wonder if its still on the road, it may be part of the beer can thats sitting next to me.

I just noticed another thread exactly like this one.  I answered the same thing on March 30 2007.  Yup, I really don't like Ford.  ;D

New 1966 Chevy Nova SS 283 automatic. Casting flaw in the back of the block dumped the oil. I had to store it with 2200 miles on it and go to Vietnam. GM wouldn't fix it when I came home in 69. So it got traded for a 69 triple black Charger R/T SE 440/4sp.
