At my end on this need advise!

So I just bought a 69 charger from th southeast part of the country, Thats the good part. The bad part is I scheduled with a shipping company last thursday and thy told me that it will take 1-3 buissness days to assign a driver and pick up the car... well day 5, my car is sitting there paid in full and the shipping company can't find a truck driver to pick up the car and bring her home and dont have one in site???!! Getting frustrated to say the least.. I told the wife I'm going to rent a truck and trailor and pick it up myself.. but she says no way. Does anyone have a known shipping company that has fast pick-up and good customer service?? Good thing Idon't have a deadline to get the car to SEMA... I would have been screwed..... Any help apprechiated....

I don't have any recommendations, but it sounds like your dealing with a "fly by night" outfit.  Tell the wife your going to go get it yourself and she can come for the road trip if she so desires.  You don't want it to sit somewhere too long..    Bob

That sounds pretty typical to me.  They give you an unrealistic (for them to follow thru) time frame so you pay half up front.  Then they jerk you a round because you already have money invested in them.  It took me 3 companies to get my truck shipped.  I had the excuse of the carrier about to pick it up and the hydraulics go out.  Funny how two different companies had the same excuse twice in a row.  Then one was calling me at 3am saying they're ready to pick up now.    Anyway, I'm sure you know they are just dispatchers and find the lowest bidder that will be in that area once you pay them.  Good luck man.

Yeah the company of course is telling me that finding another company will not speed up pick-up time... and not that the gentelman I bought the car from hasnt been understanding.. once you have that money in hand for somthing you sell.. your care factor of that product generally goes down... so yeah I need this thing picked up!!

Which company/broker did you use? Sounds like a broker and not a dedicated transport.

I typically pick up my own cars but I've had to deal with shipping companies as a seller on several occasions. It seems like the schedule is never clear. I'll say that I am only available in the evenings and the driver will show up at 10 AM during the week. I had one call me at 10:30 PM after I said I could only wait around until 9:00 (knowing it takes time to load the car, get it strapped down, and get the paperwork completed). I think it always takes about a week from setting up the shipment to when the truck arrives. I'm in a well-traveled area so, perhaps, your car isn't on one of the regular routes and no one is willing to drive that far out of the way for the negotiated price?

National Transport. I decided to go with them out of all the compaines listed. Because they said it takes 1-3 days for schedule and pick up... well to no avail. I would love to talk to a actual car moving company instead of this dispatch thing.. The car is located by Charlotte NC and the car has to deliver to central WI. Yes they said that might be the problem.. Trust me I'm paying good money to.. First it was to have it enclosed shipping but that they said will take even longer to schedule so now against my better judgment I have decided to open it up to open carry just to get the car??!

 It's probable the shipper underquoted you.  Typically the companies advertised aren't big shippers,  rather only have only a couple trucks.  But they know the game,  have somebody on the phones anyway and want to add to the bottom line.   So they give you a bid,  get your $$ and may hit an in-house homerun by having their own truck geographically available to do the job in a timley fashion.  More often,  this is not the case and they put a request out (less their profit) on a members only site such as Central Dispatch and wait for the calls to come in ($XXX for shipping a ((Dodge Charger)) from point A to point B).  If the dollar amount isn't big enough,  the calls trickle in or don't come in at all.  Another part of the equation is the pickup and dropoff points.   If one or both points are very out of the way locations,  meaning Mr. Trucker is driving with an empty space on his car hauler,  price goes up and the timeframe grows until somebody is dropping off another vehicle nearby.   Changing companies will do you no good.  Only more money will speed up delivery,  and the way diesel prices are going up,  it may be your only option.  Free market economics baby.

I have shipped a few cars and had some shipped to me. I few of them were nightmares. I used DAS (dependable auto shippers) 2 times and they seemed to do the best job.
That being said its hard to gurantee that they will do a good job everytime. Alot of it depends on the driver they send out and who they have doing the scheduling at that particular time.

seems this shipping cars hassle is a common enough issue that there should be a dedicated thread with folks experiences and recommendations...
sorry you're facing this aggravation.
BTW: I never heard another word from my European friend who wanted me to ship his car to the docks last Mo.  Maybe this is why he wanted me to do it.

Or, head over to moparts and check out the transportation area for a pickup and haul by a true mopar person.  May be quicker than what u are dealing with.  Good luck.

ive had two cars shipped from nevada and arizona  i used countryside auto transport  their out of fondulac wi see if they have any one in the area if they have space theyll pick it up if their close

Had my two Chargers shipped from Seattle to Salt Lake City by Passport.  Great care of the cars and timely pickup and delivery.

The problem is that the outfit that hauls your car also wants a return trip with a load. They do not like to drive back empty. Good Luck.

Never had them tell me that with Passport Transport.  They will do your job and if there is something on the way back that they can schedule, great.  If not, so be it.

They aren't going to tell you that unless you ask. Would you drive from the middle of Wisconsin to N. C. on your own dime. You might if your  paid for both trips upfront

No but if they had a pick up about 2 states or so away they might include that on their way back.  Hell, they could even have more pick ups on the way to your place to drop off your car.  Lets not forget, these trailers can hold probably up to 6-8 cars each if not more. 

When we got our El camino, he was half empty and said he had to drop off one more in the next state and then pick up 3 others on the way to drop off his final car so it is a never ending cycle.
