im going to be forced to leave my house after wife ran off and basicly screwed me outta everything. but i still got my charger  :2thumbs: anyway no house means no garage so im exploring my options and im wondering if any of my mopar brotherin have stored their mopars in a steel shipping container.

my main concerns are is the 8' width wide enough to sneek outta the door so i can actually get out. my other main concern is it possibly sweating in the summer. thanks MIke

I recommend a storage facility "garage", my bro and mom had a "container" for storage. Mold, mildew, mice and wasps took over in short order. I stored my Charger for several years @ 135.00 per month in a "garage" near me and it was fine, safe and sound.  :2thumbs:

P.S. Sorry to hear of your situation, mine took everything except our 3 kids!

Sweating?  We had a quonset hut type garage growing up.  It practically had it's own thunderstorms.   But, if you can cut a couple of holes and mount couple fans (solar if need be) for cross ventilation I think it would be fine.   A guy by my shop did that with container and has pretty nice little shop/storage building.

Can't help you with the width.  Sorry about your situation.

the wife got both kids too gotta love it. she runs off w another man and i get screwed in everyway possible  :flame:
when i first go the car when i was 19 i kept in in one of those car tents at my parents house. up untill 2 years ago i was using it for my camaro untill it caved in in the snow lol. i always kept up with shoveling the roof but i forgot about it honestly one winter lesson learned.

i called a few storage unit placed and they want like 140 a month :/ id rather keep it at my parents house if at all possible but i really dont wanna do the car tent thing again. it woul;d get soaked in there in the winter. one year the car was frozen under 3 inches of ice to the ground. its too nice of a car to be put in those conditions.

I found a pic of a '66 Charger in a container, not much space to get in and out but not impossible. Containers are made to be watertight so no ventilation. If you are going to store it in the container, put those swirly vents on the roof.

Sorry to hear that your wife crewed you!! Some day it will be pay back time!!
The container is wide enough for the car, no problem there. That is the way many of the cars make it to Europe ( included mine). I am thinking about the same, for " half way storage. I have bought myself a farm, and will need storage while i build the workshop there. IMO ventilation is the key to avoid trouble.
Since we only live once, and all this is not just a dressed rehearsal, but the real thing............ Well, enjoy it!!!!

Yep, was just thinking I have it good back home! Kept my Dart in a gated storage facility in a unit that easily held the car for $65 a month, and that was one of the higher rates in town due to how nice and secure the place was.

Might be better off short term to find a safe place to keep it and get a good quality outdoor car cover.  It would buy you more time to find a good indoor spot for it.

What about buying and enclosed car trailer?  Some guys on here recently bought them for around $5000.  Then you will have something you can sell once you get a real garage again.  Its made exactly for storing cars and its portable.   :Twocents:

Shipping containers can be purcased at many different configurations.......however the overall inside width will remain the same from shipping line to shipping line....]

92" is a safe measurement for the inside of the container....they can be had in different heights but that doesnt help you......Most likely you should Push your car inside unless you are really skinny

We store product ALL over the world in shipping containers, and in some places we buy them and ship them as one way containers ...after useage many people have built mini apartments from them and offices..stacked way high

I see NO problem in storing your car in one.........In the past I have laid down moth balls to ward off any pests

Cutting ventalation holes is a good idea and having a solar powered fan is is good idea to, no mice can get in as long as doors are shut tight and can is in good condition...remember it does get hotter inside the unit then outside....so ventalation is a must just make sure no mice can get in holes you cut

Good luck and sorry about your troubles

thanks guys :) im going to keep the car at my parents house so ill have a safe area for it i just need something to put it in.  im going to have to live there for a while cuse after child support im pretty much screwed over money wise. no way i can even get a rat appartment. its gonna be a shock when i finally have to leave as its been my home for 8 years and i had my kids here. on the plus side though my dad could use the help around the house and w the yard work as he has a big yard. my moms had cancer for a few years now so itll be nice to spend more time with her before it does what cancer does. so im trying to make the best of the situation and not get down about stuff i cannot control.

id really love to keep the car at the house as id be more apt to drive it if it was right there and i didnt have to drive 20 mins to get to it.

thanks for the suggestions guys i appreciate it :)
