just read where the original dukes farm house from the first five georgia episodes is going to be torn down and sold off in pieces to any one who wants it. hard to believe since the house has been around since the 1800's someone hasnt' decided to restore it as a land mark. oh well modern progress i guess.... :shruggy: :shruggy:

Okay, I want to pipe in here before people starts to going haywire over what was just posted. Folks there is way more to the story then what was just posted above.

I want to shad alittle bit more light on why the house is being tore down for. The house is and has been falling in for years. All the out rooms has been removed off of it along time ago. The house doesn't even look like the Duke house anymore. The roof started falling in along time ago. The owner put up with the house for over the years looking like it does now. The house was a log cabin originlly built back in the 1800's. The poor owner which is way up in his age has been paying extra on things to keep the house well whats let of it standing for fans. The house is so far gone that it's not even safe to walk inside it really. The cabin has been boarded up for quite awhil now (years). The people that did get to go inside asked the owner first and had his permission to do so. The house/cabin, by no way shape or form looks anything like it once did when it was on the series.  :shruggy:

No, you didn't mention to much about the details of the Duke House was all.. and knowing people around here, with what how you posted it. They probably would have taken it the wrong way. That is why I said "pipe in" to let them know alittle more info about the house and why it was being torn down for.  :2thumbs:

You see, I was only looking out for a online friend. What you left out I filled in  . I do apologize if I have offended you.

That doesnt surprise me after seeing it recently, its in really bad shape and is more of a shed then anything.  sad to see it go but at least someone will again make some money on it as souvenirs

The place was just THAT heavily modified when it was an intact house in 1978.  The porch and the extra parts of the house structure have since been torn down again.  The remaining bare shell you see is what dates back to the 1800s.
