Not that its rocket science, but I see in a lot of photos here, that many of you/us remove the bumper/grille to remove the engine? Or is it because your in the process of restoring your car, so maybe that's why the front end is removed? Is it required when using a standard engine hoist? Or can one leave the front clip on the car to yank the engine out?.....

Thanks

All you have to do is pull the rad.

Well, it is easier to reach if you're not leaning over all that stuff at the front of the car - and there's less chance of crunching something on the fender or in the grill area! However, I'd say it's mostly because people already have the car apart. Ideally, you remove and install the engine from the bottom any way.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

easier when doing it from the top  is to remove  grill front panel bumper etc etc  hood obviously  , but  even removed fenders on mine !!!   does my back in ! leaning & stooping over stuff  , although that was when i was putting the whole car back togeather & only hung them back to paint the whole car in one hit !! , but anytime the motor comes back out will do it the same way again !!  :yesnod:  its bad enough for me leaning over to swap heads  :icon_smile_blackeye: kills my back  :cryin:.

but removed the motor before a few times over the years  when i was younger , just taking off the hood , radiator & crank pulley 4 groove a/c one ,

factory was is from the bottom like Troy mentioned
