Another underrated player is Alex Lifeson from RUSH :yesnod:

He not so much underrated as he is under acknowledged.  If you know Lifeson's playing, you know his subtle brilliance.

BTW, he's in my list on page one (along with a few other great players that have yet to be acknowledged here).

I remember in the early '70s when Steve Howe was concidered one of the all time greats, now he doesn't even rate a mention... I left out a few how about Larry Coryell?.. or Adrian Belew?.. there are also many "session players" who get nary a mention.. Steve Gadd?..

I gave thought to putting Steve Howe on my list, but the thread was only for choosing your 10 favorites. I just saw him last year with Yes & he is still great. I've seen Pat Metheny several times, but haven't listened to him in a long time. Adrian Belew is good, saw him many times with King Crimson, & also saw BB King.

If you want to mention session guys, how about Larry Carlton? He was on some Steely Dan albums & I got to see him a few times solo with his own band, really good, too.

Always wanted to see Larry Coryell, but haven't yet. I did see his son, Murali Coryell who is good. The first time I ever heard Larry Coryell was an album with the Brubeck Brothers, probably in the mid 70's.

Another guy who shocked me was Mike Stern when I saw him with Miles Davis.

Also, I went to see a band I liked called "Treat Her Right" when they opened for Joe Ely back in the mid to late 80's. I had no idea who Joe Ely was, but his guitar player was incredible. I'm not 100% sure if I have the right name, but I think it's David Grissom.

howz about Captain Sensible of the dAMMED,... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wGWGhkQOobA rare live solo clip...

I saw Mike Stern with Miles and With Sting. kinda' stiff not my Fav. It was just so amazing that A bonafide Jazz player like Miles would have a Stratocaster player on stage with him back in the '80s it simply wasn't done!!!  :eek2:

You know who's really damn good?.. Dave Crosby's son Raymond who preformed in the band CPR  with him... Nice guy too, met him at a resterant by chance a couple days after we saw them perform here...  :shruggy:
