I first saw this car cruising through a local park one summer day in the mid '90s and shortly after at St Thomas Dragway for a car show. Anyone here?  Anyone know the car or history? Haven't seen it since around that time. Always wanted a C500 and considered one from R&R Auto Salvage at that same time, but never followed through...I guess "life" got in the way.

Thanks!  For the sake of curiosity, I sent the seller a question.

Power disc brakes, auto on the column, manual steering, radio delete, manaul outside mirror, and red interior. Who would have ordered the car like that?

It's odd; I like it.

J9B210735 was in NJ at one time .It was a Julius Stuer car.Been for sale and sold before

when was that?

It's not the same car--the car at R&H (where I work) wasn't together by then.  It came out of NE Ohio.  Our car was a sales bank car, so someone at Highland Park must have liked it.

Could have been a broker? .But 210735 was for sale in Blairstown NJ .I might be able to find the ad

Presented here for auction is an ultra rare, 1969 HEMI Charger 500 built by Dodge for NASCAR. The 1969 Charger 500 Aero Fastbacks were engineered to slip through the wind at speeds near 200 MPH. Partially assembled Chargers were removed from the assembly line and shipped to Creative Industries in Detroit for special modifications and performance enhancements. These changes involved moving the grill forward until it was flush with the hood, adding wind deflectors along the A-post to bend the air around the windshield, and constructing a special rear window plug to slope the back of the car in order to minimize drag. The Charger 500 body was the first Areo Car designed by wind tunnel testing and later evolved into the Daytona Charger. These rare Aero Fastbacks led by Buddy Baker dominated NASCAR in 1969 winning 19 races. An interesting historical fact is that Buddy Baker's white w/red stripe #3 Charger 500 was sponsered by Royal Dodge of Fayetteville North Caralina which coincidentally is where this white w/red stripe HEMI Charger 500 was originally sold. I commissioned a local hobbyist to construct an identical model of Buddy Baker's Charger 500 which will be included with purchase. According to Galen Govier, a total of 559 Dodge Charger 500's were produced in 1969 (other sources say 392 units were produced). Of those, only about 50 were equipped with a 426 HEMI engine and auto transmission. More interestingly, noted Chrysler historian Galen Govier has indicated that this Hemi Charger 500 is the only one registered in this color scheme and is quite possible the only one built (see photos). This gorgeous automobile was previously owned and restored by Julius Stuer of "Restorations by Julius". Julius Stuer's work is world renown and his cars have won many national awards. I encourage prospective bidders to visit his web site at www.rbyj.com so you can see for yourself the quality, workmanship and attention to detail he provides his customers. Since this was his personal vehicle, he spared no expense in returning this highly desirable vehicle back to its original showroom condition. As you can see from the photos, this HEMI 500 is in fantastic condition. All numbers are matching including radiator core support, trunk lip, fender tag, dash VIN tag, transmission, carburetors, radiator, Dana rear, wiper motor, steering box, dual point distributor, etc. About the only thing that isn't is the block as is the case with most hemi-cars. I also have the original build sheet which is in excellent condition and also some picture from before the car was restored. As previously stated, this is a factory "W1" White with "C6R" Red interior and Red stripe which is arguably the best color combination for a factory race car. It is also registered with the Chrysler National Historic Society.

apparently that's who we bought it from.  I didn't know his location.  we bought a '66 427 Corvette from him, too.

Something clicked earlier and I remember that shortly after I saw the Ontario car, it appeared in one of the Mopar magazines. I dug through my collection and in the Aug/Sept '94 issue of Mopar Muscle and it is in there with those Ontario plates. Article was called "High-Bank Hemi". At any rate, it states that the car was originally sold in Colby, Kansas and the Ontario owner's name was Bob McLeod. Optioned with the 4 speed, Super Track Pak 4.10 Dana, console, tinted windshield, tach/clock, AM radio, wood grain steering wheel, no headrests.  Car was built Dec 11, 1968. He got it in '84 and took the next 6 years to restore.

Back in the late 80's there was a restored orange one in South Hampton Ontario as well. 440 car. Aside from the asking price of $14k canadian, I don't recall any other details.

The white Canadian HEMI 500 is in the nice Welbourne museum now. Saw it down there when we were in Talladega.

Hello Stone Cold and others, my name is PAul and I thought I would join to share some history.  The car pictured was actually my Uncle's car, he lives about 8 kms from me.  It was originally restored by him in the 80's.  It had some paint rework before he let her go about 5 years ago.  It was a very fast car, I was able to enjoy a WOT 3rd and 4th gear charge in this car, an experience I will never forget. 1st and 2nd gear were very short, power wasnt applied much in the lower gears due to the stock tires  It had a dual quad 426 Hemi/4 speed/4.10 Dana rear.  His Charger 500 was 1 of 24 cars that were optioned the same.
Beautiful car, and my 1st and last experience with the infamous Hemi engine. He still has some Hemi magic in his garage, including an engine dynoed 850hp 426 cube example that runs on methanol  with dual Dominators massaged to flow 1350cfm a piece. That engine powered a SuperBee to 10.0's at over 153mph.
He now enjoys an early 90's low mile Ferrari Testarossa in lieu of the Charger 500..

peace
Hog

Thanks for sharing.  Do you know if the car stayed in Canada ?  Was a pretty cool sight driving behind him through the park that day many years ago.
Cheers!
