I could use some help figuring out what I have and whether or not if I can use it. The only number on the case is 1327888-1, there is
nothing hinting as to what case it is. It has a 3.54 gear. Is it possible to find axles for this and use it in a b-body? I know that I am asking
stupid questions, but you don't learn if you don't ask. Could use any help or ideas, kind of stuck here.

Thanks

That looks like a clutch style suregrip unit  :2thumbs:

The stock axle spline count is 30 and there are aftermarket axles available (Yukon/Dutchman etc...) for that application or you can use the stockers  :yesnod:

Well this one certainly isn't a 30 spline its more like 10. Whats it from and how do I get axles
to fit this thing?

greenpigs

I can tell you this much its not for a 10 spline axle.

So help me understand what this is. I don't understand the spline deal. I count ten splines do you multiply this by something
to come to desired number? Someone must know. HELP!!!

Even though it looks like an 8 3/4" it's actually an 8 1/4" that dates back as far as 1937, it did have 10-spline axles and some had 16-spline axles.

The old 8 1/4" has 11 attaching fasteners instead of the 10 that the 8 3/4" has...note the differences with the pic in the OP.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

My bad, I stand corrected.  :brickwall: Never heard of such a thing & as Ron stated 30 is stock so thats a BIG difference and something I didn't know about.

I'd be interested to see the date and the other stampings on the ring gear in the top pic of the OP.

Well this one has ten mounting holes, and the rest of the numbers on the ring gear are:
