My neighbor, Dave, came over tonight to help me finish up the rear anti-sway bar installation.   The goal was to have the car back on all four tires/dollies so my wife could get into the loft above the garage.  Goal accomplished!!  Praise the LORD!!

So, after attempting to repair the original decklid I decided it was too rusted to save.  So, I purchased one from Nebraska and had it shipped to my home last month.  I sandblasted it tonight to determine how much repair it needed and worked with my neighbor, Dave, to do the repairs.

Fabricated a patch and learned how to use a body tool set (Harbor Freight).  Marked the lines and my neighbor cut out the metal...

Drilled 1/8" holes for plug welding the new piece to the added strip.  Used the dolly set to 'pinch the edge' and create the correct look and feel.

After the welding and grinding... here is the final result...   Need to remove the old and put this on the car next.

Well, i felt it was time to 'open up' and start the tranny rebuild.  This entire project has been 'out of my comfort zone' however this and the engine are my greatest concerns and 'intimidations'.  I read as much as i could get my hands on, watched many YouTube videos and decided to go for it.  For those of you intimidated by this, please know.. if I can do this.. YOU can do this...  :)

Both the front and rear discs are thin, burnt, and wavy.  The oil smells burnt and the filter is black as can be.  So, after the tear down last nigh here are my plans:

1.) TCI 'bolt-in' sprag from Summit
2.) TCI 'rebuild' kit from Summit w/shift kit

I would have to say that YouTube has been a tremendous help...   he has many other videos in this series.

Update...   tonight I started on the pump...   Tore it down, removed the seal and the old sleeve...  All was going well until I tried to put the new 'sleeve' in behind the seal...   I ended up 'slipping' and scraping the inside of the sleeve!!   :brickwall:    Sooo... I decided to quit for the night...

I will be in the same town as both a Harbor Freight & Northern Tool so I will hopefully get a good deal on a type of seal/sleeve installation kit....

Ok.  Today was a very productive day...   Although many of you would probably rebuild the trans in less time I am very pleased with getting it done in a little over 10 days.  Here are photos from the past 10 days...  Not bad for me with all the other things I have to do...  I added a 'bolt-in' sprag and a TransGo TF2 Shift Kit.  Next I plan to mount the transmission to get it off the floor...

It has been quite a while since I updated and sadly there hasn't been much work happening to my Charger.  Just updating to say I ordered the drum to disc conversion for the rear from Summit last night.   I am certain this upgrade will provide better stopping and more 'controlled' braking when necessary.

Additionally the 440 block, steel crank, rebuilt 906 heads, and deep oil pan have been dropped off at the engine builder.  I should have the engine back by the first of February 2015.

Took time today to mount the seats to properly locate and mount the B&M Quicksilver shifter.  I love the look...  Next I plan to mount the tranny!

Well..  I kept going..   added the deep pan for the tranny...  mounted the tranny (cross member) and then did a test fit on the drive shaft...  All looks and works as expected...   :2thumbs:

ACUDANUT

I'd mount the torque converter in there, while you have easy access. They can be tricky to seat them properly.

I completely agree ACUDANUT...  Once I figure out which flywheel flexplate I can use (type & size) I will acquire the correctly sized torque converter and mount it in the tranny.

Thanks

After getting home from work late last night I was excited to find a box outside my door...   :2thumbs:
I opened it up and went to work installing the rear disc brakes (passenger side)...   It was a tedious process however not difficult at all...   I plan to do the other side later today.

Funny... as I look at the photo of the disc brakes I noticed I missed tightening the lower shock mount bolt/nut...   :smilielol:  I will do that tonight as well..   :2thumbs:
