Had to pick classic Sabbath with Ozzy, but I love Dio's solo stuff.

Kinda the opposite for me I don't think I heard much Much of Dio when he was in Sabbath when he went Solo, I heard more of him.
I listen to Dio most days on my MP3 Player at work  :2thumbs:

To me, Sabbath is not Sabbath without Ozzy. The first album is still one of my favorites.

I'm not big fan of Sabbath BUT if I have to choose... Ozzy's Sabbath. First and original sound of Sabbath

Kinda diff with Van halen, where I preffer Sammy Hagar, althouth David Lee Roth was diff unique style. They Changed A LOT with Hagar, being more musical, complete, melodic... Roth's VanHalen was pure show, but 1984 LP whats its the best, allong with F.U.C.K.

Or Maiden with Dickinson instead DiAnno

:iagree: Although I voted BOTH KICK ASS, Black Sabbath with Ozzy is always higher in my books than the Dio days however I absolutley LOVE Dio's solo stuff. I still to this day regret not seeing him live when I had the chance.... :rotz:

I can no longer listen to them because of the flashbacks,..  :eek2:
I first heard them in the pearl white back seat of a baby blue '73 charger SE.. jacked up with hi-jacker air shocks and keystones on Mickey Thompson's... I thought Iron Man and Luke's wail were the coolest things I'd ever heard.
then I got my first listen to Heart... Magic man?.. Barracuda?..  :2thumbs:

There is no Comparison really, Two totally different Bands, The OZZY years were absolutly groundbraking and to hear the band musically progress throughout the 10 years they were together was simply amazing  My favorite Early Sabbath was Sabbath 4 and later,.
The Dio years was a match made in Heaven...Or maybe Hell for that matter, Tony and Geezer were a perfect match for Dio's Powerfull Vocals, and the wrighting style of Dio was a perfect match for  Sabbath's Dark and Heavy Sound. It really was Pure Hard ROCK No Fluff No Additives.

So For me it's a no Brainer Two Different Styles Two Different Sabbaths. It's a real Shame the Boys never got past their Huge Ego's and did a Tour with both OZZY and DIO
...That would have made History....Especially if Ian Gillan Opened for them with Sabath Backing him up,WOW Would have been like being "BORN AGAIN"

LOL

Rest in Piece Mr Dio Your presence is missed by thousands of fans Daily.

When I'm in the shop thrashing on one of the Chargers the first Black Sabbath album and Deep Purple with Ian Gillian are usually blasting out of the boom box.
The Paranoid album was ground breaking and recorded in one week.

You ever hear Ian Gillan on that one Sabbath album? I was expecting better, but disappointed.

I will say I prefer Sabbath with DIO tho. I just like DIOs vocal style better than Ozzy.

I'm not a fan of Black Sabbath at all - with either singer. I prefer other bands from that era much more. Bands like the Rolling Stones, Cream, Deep Purple, Jimi Hendrix, and Led Zeppelin. That being said, I can say that I really like Ozzy's first two solo albums a lot and they're in my top 20 albums of all-time. His guitar player Randy Rhoads was cutting edge and those two albums were masterpieces. It's too bad he died at the young age of 26 just after those two albums came out. Since then, Ozzy's music hasn't been the same. I'm not a fan of his guitar players since then and that includes Zakk, who I think plays too much for the songs. He can't seem to play a solo that actually fits the song.

As for Dio, his early solo stuff was real good with Vivian Campbell on guitar. Listen to his solo on "Rainbow in the Dark".

yeah, but that was more due to the band's sound.  You think they couldn't have done the same record with Dio?  It  probably would have been even better.

Ozzy wasn't "Ozzy" til after he went solo. He was just Sabbath's singer. Theres a reason why the band went on without him (rather successfully) and he couldn't get things going on his own til he hooked up with Randy. Ozzy's a joke.

Your absolutly Right, Too Bad they couldnt keep their shit together, Rainbow got really "poppy" when Dio was ousted. It's amazing to see how well Dio's style worked with Ritchie and Tony, Two completly different styles.Yet Dio Pulled it off Volcally.
I think Ritchie's Playing style suited Dio More than Tony at that time (early 70's) But for the 80's Dio with Tony's Handiwork was on the mark !

Man those were the days.

Just had a brain cramp.  :eek2:

I was going nuts trying to remember what band I saw when Rainbow opened for them. After googling a bunch of stuff, I managed to figure out that it wasn't Rainbow I saw, it was Whitesnake.

Still can't recall who they opened for, but I think it might have been Queen.    :shruggy:
