69 tail light mod

I've been trying to tackle the tail lights on my '69 for a more bright light. I've tried the LED's (direct 1157/56 swap) and had this chrome tube left over from a skylight install, thought I would share. It cuts with a scissors, and really brightened up the bulbs, looks better than new!!

  i'm not sure what you did there.. is it mylar that you shaped to fit?..

It was from a tube-style skylight. Made some patterns out of paper, then onto this section of tube we had left over. It was an 8" dia. x like 30" long, laid flat. Cut with scissors, contoured, and held in place with dollops of clear Polyseamseal adhesive caulk. Was just left-overs and easy. WAY better than the silver paint.

sweet, ok so it wasn't an easy mod. you had to tale the red lens off and contour,.. any decent after pics?..

I would take a pic, but its hard to capture, plus have some more tuning work to do.
Thinking about getting some more for front marker lights, one tube would do the whole car.
Leave the protective film on while you work it.

Be sure you get one at least 30" long, 48" would be best so you could do the top and bottom, I had to use chrome spray-paint for that.

I did basically the same thing to one of my 66's....but I used the chrome metal heating tape that looks like a roll of duct tape...peal & stick...and it will hold up to bulb heat.
