Hello,

I'm getting a good deal on a 440, my charger has a 318, and I'm wondering for thouse how had swap engines before what are the first concerns to make this swap, things that I can think of are: fuel pump, motor mounts, etc.

There is other thing that concerns me,  is our roads that are pretty messed up, and I'm just thinking on the weight of that engine and the front drive train will suffer a lot from bumps and holes, and we have plenty.

Since gas is so cheap in Venezuela, I'm not concerns much about that, well just want to thank you for taking the time to read this, and hoping for a comment or shared experience you can help with.

U.S. cents per gallon, not dollars!

Probably pay to upgrade the torsion bars too huh?

Btw, fuel here in Perth will be $1.45 per litre (average) for standard unleaded tomorrow I just heard.
That's like $5.80 a gallon
Gotta love a '69

Actually its 0.038 cents the liter, and that's premium gas (95 octane).

Thanks A383Wing, I was asking not only for the work and the trouble it might cost, but the invest I'll have to do if I buy the engine, right now I have a 318 that still need like about 1200$ for a good rebuild, but if I decide to take that money for the 440 probably I will be expending that only on all the pieces I need to make the swap, its something to think about.

I'm also thinking on just buying the engine, but I know every time I look at it I will say "Man I should had used that money in ------"...

In addition to the engine, you need everything attached to it (pulleys, brackets, air cleaner, carburetor, oil pan, distributor, etc.). The transmission has a different bolt pattern so you'll need one of those for a big block as well. If your current car has air conditioning the radiator will probably be fine - except the inlet/outlet may be on the wrong sides. I believe your car is a 72 so I *think* the k-frame is the same between big block and small block. If that's the case then you'll just need the correct motor mounts. Factory big block cars had larger torsion bars, rear springs, and brakes to deal with the extra weight.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Thanks Troy, with all this replays I can imagine what challenges await for a engine swap, I know most of you would say "engine swap its easy" but as I see it, I'm not looking for a car that would make a 10.55 sec 1/4 mile or 500HP, in the other hand I will envy the sound of it though, for now I could just keep the 318 and rebuild it for a nice 350HP or so...

Still the proposition is on the table, I really need to think about it, but thanks you all...
