How do you put a "value" on your Charger?

  When trying to determine the value of a Charger (or any old car) what factors add or reduce price? Example: My car new 318, 904 auto, 7 1/4 open axle, PS, PB, A/C, Tint, Cruise, Buckets w Console. Now 440 six pack, 727, 8 3/4 Tru Track, PS. So how do you figure what stuff works on value for for non original components? I get that body repairs and missing parts can be worked out and that the "condition" of things like engine and tranny are "dependent" on not just what they are but their condition also. The nuances of like in my case the 440 and six pack having a 69 build date appropriate for an early build date 70 Charger are lost on me.
  People keep asking me "What It's worth" and frankly I have not a clue.    I'm not really trying to price my car, just wondering what you all think for yours.

good question  ,  if you do the work your self  you know how many hours have gone into a nut & bolt resto  , but you would never get back that in resale value  , but would have to spend the time/ money  doing that to another    i know what i'm trying to say i think 

difficult  to value mine as i would never sell !!  but on the other hand how much would i need to spend to get a charger in the same condition !!

its simple. its worth what someone is willing to pay. not a dime more.  ive seen crap sell for big money and seen nice cars go cheap.

Yep, I would look through ebay and other car sites and average the difference.

Compared to some of the crap I have seen personally lately for sale for big $$,  Id say mine is worth 100k as it sits

Appraisals cost roughly $500-- at least the one for my '70 did..

No yardstick usually, most all insurances companies use declared value for classic cars, ie you declare it. They will set a top limit, typically 60k or 80k. Then they back it up with a physical inspection, inventory and lots of pictures.

After all, there are those assclowns who would insure a beater with declared value of say 40k, then oops, it somehow catches fire and a claim follows. 

So you have at least three calculations: declared value, replacement value and fair market value. We all add a premium to "true" value when selling, and we all discount hard and fast when buying. Post your car pics and an inventory and I am sure that you will get lots of estimates, and then you can average it all.

I agree. When I called Hagerty to get a policy in 2002, I got stated value of $30,000. in 2006 when the values were climbing nearly as fast as california real estate, I raised it to $36,000. I'm sure that it would cost more than that if I had to start from scratch now. Looking at ebag and craigs, I know I'll never find a running, driving and registered 70 Charger for $1700 again.

thats what I did, Peter Fonda helped to get it to $35,000

and to be honest, if anyone ever came and offered me that.... it would be a very very hard thing to say no too... Im not saying impossible. But difficulty.

  Yeh I get ya, but what I mean is a nice big block and running gear's value as opposed to a 318 that's not numbers match but maybe date code correct and set up very much as original. I guess ya just throw the book out and wing it?

That's what I did... And the security of knowing I'm insured for it's value is comforting.
