Anyone buy fenders, doors, 1/4, etc body panels from AMD? If so, how does it compare to the factory parts?

Thanks

Umm... really?  If you look at most of the paint & body threads you'll see a great number of people love AMD.  I think they do quite well.   :yesnod:

A lot of members think their stuff is great.  I've purchased a few things from them that have been really nice...BUT...their doors aren't right (well at least a few months ago) and they will admit it....whatever lot they got shipped from china sucked.  I bought one to replace my original door that needed work.  Thought it would be cheaper to replace the original door then fix it.   The first door's inner skin didn't fit right so they checked..noticed a problem with other doors in stock and sent me another one (They thought was correct).  Well that didn't fit (right) either.  Sent it back...fixed my original door and painted the first door they sent me (for free now) in General Lee uniform and it's hangin in the Garage.

AMD are great folk but they are at the mercy of Chinese manufacturers.  They will take care of you but at least with doors its a crap shoot.  I got a front fender also but it didn't fit right either.  Would need too much bondo to make right so I sent it back and fixed my original.

They are one of a small group of Companies making parts for our cars so I applause the effort.  If you get a good part your gold.  If not they will take care of you.  As long at you don't mind spending weeks working it out and paying for shipping.

I bought a rear bumper for my FrankenDuster. It fits great, the chrome is nice and the cost..$300 was about the same or a little less than having an original rechromed.

Sherman's is junk  all from china.  I got AMD parts, roof, door and drivers quarter on mine fit like a glove no problems.a friend bought the Sherman stuff because it was cheaper would not fit to save his @$$, cost him more to chop it up to make it fit than what I payed for mine. I thought AMD was all made in the USA might be wrong thought.

I have bought AMD sheetmetal BUT I havent seen it yet since it is stored in the US and I'm not in the US. However I have a set of repop bumpers for my 69 and altough they are not as thick as the OEM ones they look EXACTLY like the OEM ones. You will need to pick one of each up from the ground to notice the weight difference and the thickness is almost undetectable when mounted on the car. So for me that is a 100% top shelf product.

NOS is nice, turbo's are neat, but when it comes to Mopars, there's no need to cheat...

I purchased a hood for our 69 from AMD. It fit perfectly and had all the correct holes in all the correct areas. Very happy with this product.  :2thumbs:

Half the panels on my car came from AMD. Great quality but took A LOT of adjusting to get each panel to fit properly. Rear quarters, front fenders, hood.. These were NOT parts you could take out of the box and right on the car...

Then again... Were OEM panels when they were available? Nope..

Just got some sheet metal from AMD for my 68. Floor pans fit nice and they include the little things like the emergency brake cable bracket under the driver's pan, bucket seat reinforcements are already welded in, and the anchors for the seat belts. However the boxes do say made in China.

in progress.. I think that even the stamping of the inner structure looks like factory and the parts mated to factory sheetmetal well.
