1966 Charger 318...360 Water Pump???

Hi gang, my name is Jack and I'm new to the Mopar world.  Well not so much I have a project 1927 and 1935 and my first car was a 1971 Dodge Dart Swinger Special.  It had more badges that Andy Griffin.

Anyway I just bought a 1966 Charger to rebuild and have been having some issues with the engine... Nothing seems to be easy.  My problem is that by water pump exits on the bottom passenger side.  The Rad is on the lower driver side.  I found when I pulled the lower hose off that it was actually 2 hoses put together with a coupler.  So not knowing I thought maybe the Rad had been replaced.  That doesn't seem to be the problem.  it seems that the motor has the wrong water pump set up or maybe even the wrong engine.  Who knows what could have happened in 46 years.  Anyway I found on the block PM318R.  Which from my reading means that its a regular 318.  I could not fine the engine code (not sure it's still there...)

So back to the water pump.  After looking at tons of pictures and checking the parts store it seems that it might have a 360 water pump on it.  Is that even possible?  I was thinking about swapping the parts but the power steering pump and brackets seem to be in the way.

Do you guys have any advise or pictures of what a 1966ish 318 front set up should look like?  (Power steering, Rad hoses, water Pump)

Any help would be appreciated.

Im not the most knolagable on smallblocks but if your car is a 66 and has a 66 engine it would probably be a poly 318 campletely diffrent than a la 318. I had a poly years ago it was a great engine. look at valvecovers on each and you can tell witch you have.Just google poly 318.If it is what you have I dont think 360 parts will interchange. I saw a poly some where on line chromed out it looked cool. Good luck its nice to see another 1st Gen on the road.

just get the water pump that has the hose on the drivers side...

It's not a 318/360 thing it's a year thing.

'69 and earlier pumps are cast iron and have a drivers side inlet. '70 and newer are aluminum and have a passenger side inlet.

When changing from one to the other there are usually issues with the timing indicator on the front cover, they changed sides when the inlet changed and there will be pulley issues because the later pump puts the pulley further forward by about 3/4".
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.
