Yellow Superbird on eBay. Anyone know any additional info?

Aug 79 older ww club records show 175611 down as Tor Red Blk int Blk buckets console auto scott Hadfield Nashville Tennesse .This orig by the fender tag FY1 yellow car shows evidence of a repaint in the trunk .Overspray on the sidemarker retainer and its wiring etc etc.

the (worn) fender tag code contradicting the color listed on the paperwork trail that someone put together makes for an interesting quirk. lists can be misleading, as one daytona ship list posted here shows the car i know of going six states west of where it was sold at. in the ship list's defense, it is otherwise blank for this car, whereas the list info on this 'bird shows a lot of detail. tough call, but i'm going with the fender tag.

These original lists were created by a variety of sources - owner submission, cars seen at shows, car spotted in the field by third parties.   As you can imagine, without 100 percent control of the sources, it is easy for a simple mistake to take place.   I do not believe that over 30 years ago, that there were any warranties that the list was perfect.   But on the whole, I would believe it to be fairly accurate. 

I guess the bottom line is to let the metal of the car do the talking.   From what I can see, it appears to be pretty honest looking.

It could be as simple as someone wrote down top ban (As in Top bannana) And later thot it said tor red. I know I sometimes can have a hard time deciphering my own writing,especialy if its on the back of a scrap at a car show or whatever.

The car should speak for itself when buyer goes over it in detail.On its own merits and available documentation.It does show evidence of non factory overspray in trunk areas.In most cases the early archives as club lists and various sources have the real true story but not 100%  .Back then no body was out to decieve or mislead as the cars worth not near what they bring today.
On another note .I got ad for a 4 speed Hemi daytona circa 1979 car had no motor or trans nose or wing.That was Anatol V as stated in the ad XX29J9B379743 Same car as in this earlier story .Car is Harold S and is known #s matching numbers My old ads and listings tell me the real storyl

That was a great deal .For same owner as stated for 20 years.There wasnt much of any paperwork documentation.As noted the trunk matt was the original.which is impressive .Also you dont often find the plastic tail light covers still there and intact after all those years

Thanks for your input on the car, I have owned 2 other yellow cars that I had sold years ago to fiance land and a shop to work on my cars. I never thought that I would get chance to buy another one at a fair price like this one. Eric.

  I have been sick about that one all day.I watched it end last night. I am in the middle of a 60k resto on a 40k car so I could not buy it myself. Had I not started this car (not a superbird) I would have bought it at the dealer prior to the auction.   Congrats!

Welcome Eric. Congrats on the new bird purchase. Mine was originally an FY1 car. I think I read that 23% of the birds built were yellow.
