What are the A833 tail shaft and pinion end play specs?

there is a little bit - nothing out of the ordinary...         don't know what else to say man...   maybe +/- 1/16" ?

You are referring to the axial play in the mainshaft? If so, then, based upon the FSM I believe it should be between 0.015 and 0.029 inches of play. I'd say you're fine.

I might be wrong but I don't think that measurement has to do with the tailshaft.  I think it's the play between the cluster gear and the case, ie, the gear that rides on the countershaft.
