The ad is back up again and as I suspected it's that same guy in SE Portland who's always buying them up and flipping them. The thing has 70 R/T door scoops on it. :eek2: http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/pts/2233277890.html

I emailed him asking for the VIN and fender tag info.

"Nice straight 1968 Charger built 383hp 4 speed needs new roof skin , lots of POWER RT look a like, 9500"

charge-it

A/C firewall blocked off, wrong doors, rust all over the place. If he can get 9500.00 for that Charger I'd be surprised. Maybe it's time to sell mine. NOT!

I've seen an add on CL for Charger parts every ounce in a while. It shows a picture of several 2nd generations in a driveway. Not sure if it its the same person. If it is, he was trying to sell his whole collection for something like $17,000 not to long ago. Theres at least a couple other cars in this add, one a 68 sitting in the background.
I wasn't even looking for Chargers, I had typed the word "posi" in my search for a sure grip and came across this add.

It's the same guy and he doesn't have a collection per se. It's more like a revolving door of flipper cars he finds all over the NW for cheap and then doubles the price.

Yep..  :-\

Although, he does get a decent car every once and a while.

Let me know if you ever want me to go and have a look at one of his cars for you. I've been to his place 2-3 times.

I may have been a little hard on him before. I know he's making money but in his defense his prices aren't all that bad. He's certainly got a talent for finding them because I never see that many neglected 2nd gen Chargers around here. He's gets kudos from me for getting the poor cars back into circulation and hopefully into the hands of people who are willing to save them.

He's fast though. I've managed to sneak a few purchases past him for stuff that went on sale around here. One such purchase was a complete 68 grill, a fender and two front valances for less than $300. Another was a set of Vectors I got for $160 which he promptly bought from me for $300. :D Shortly thereafter I got a good deal from him on a bumper jack. I'm not as into it as he is or we'd probably be butting heads. As it is I can always count on him to do the leg work finding Chargers and parts around here so it sort of saves me the hassle. And it is a hassle.

That's really cool of you thanks!   I will certainly take you up on that if he has something.

That's cool. I didn't think you were lambasting him too bad. About 2 months ago he pulled a Red/Black int 68 RT from an estate sale with a blown engine. Was a really good looking car and he was asking $15k. It sold in a day. I can't move that fast from over here on the east coast. He is high on some stuff but he doesn't want it for long so he starts to drop the price reasonably fast. He is certainly nice enough over the phone and via email.  :yesnod:

Thanks Curtis for uncovering the fact that it's only a lowly 318 car...  :icon_smile_big:  Here is another pic sent to me by the owner.

Are you wanting to do a resto? Because I doubt he's going to have much that won't have at least a little rust.

Resto isn't a/the issue. "Running" is more of an issue. The 68 RT I mentioned was in good shape from a body standpoint, though the driver fender was banged up, but it needed engine work (obviously). The price was at a point where I could have had the engine work done now, drove it around as an old car, worked on little things over time and then bought into the full monty later.

So I suppose that should give you an idea of where I am shopping.

Maybe Im coming in a little late, but another 68 I had been keeping an eye on  has been for sale for over 8 months, anyone know anything about it?
I think it was for sale in a different location then sold to current guy who was trying to sell it again ??

Argh damn, I go to look for it now and its gone, it  was in Berkeley and /or Michigan 68 383 4 speed in B5 Blue, white interior and buddy seat,  had resto but still mostly in pieces,$25900   just didnt strike me as the real deal cause it sat around for so long
