Does anyone know what these 1968-70 charger trunklid stampings mean?
I thought I had a Real WB LEE trunklid but now I think they are factory stamped #s so if so what do they mean? Thanks

Looks to be from the inside out?  :shruggy:
If that's the case, it's definitely factory.

The WS are the first & last letters in "Warner Brothers" which clearly signifies its authenticity. The number 40 means that Daisy sat on it 40 times.

You really hit the jackpot!

The stamping is punched in but is so nicely done it appears to factory. As far as I know all chargers may have a similar stamping :shruggy:

As for the Warner Bros comments  -WS 4 01 1 is how this trunk lid is stamped!
so either way this trunklid is probley a one of a kind stamping and valueable
unless someone can decode that to be a model year code or something
so far I have yet to see anyone with a better number combo stamped for a general lee weather its factory or wb number its pretty cool # to have if your building a general lee replica. if the # is a model or year designation please let me know
Thank You

I checked a few 68-69 charger trunklids. Every trunklid I can find has these numbers stamped
in the dead center of the lid. So I belive they are factory stamped numbers.
Every trunklid I can find is stamped - 1 WS  xxx   1
xxx  = the three digits that change
it seems like there are 3 numbers stamped after the WS that change

I don't know is this how you id the year of the lids or what ? These #s must mean something
to someone otherwise the factory wouldn't stamp them that way . There are also the small embossed part #s but they are almost impossiable to read .

Well I know Richards idea was meant as joke  :icon_smile_big:but... it sure seems like a waste of time to me to keep moving away from listing information that can actually be of some use to someone thats restoreing a charger. We have a real mystery here I guess :scratchchin:

Pretty sure those are just quality control or tracking numbers for the stamping dies. Used by the manufacturer to link that sheet metal to the die or the date when it was stamped.
Could also have been for counting the number of times that particular die had been used.

I know that SS on the 1970 E-Bodies means Sterling Stamp, it was one of Chrysler's sheetmetal stamping plants.

WS likely are the initials for one of their other stamping plants.
