I sold a guy an NOS finish panel for a '66 Hemi Coronet 500 Convertible a few years ago.  He just sent me a note that Galen scored the car a 1.1.

It must be a good thing, but does that mean?  What is the scale?  (For what this guy paid for the parts I hope 1.1 is the top.)

Don't feel bad. I wasn't seeing that either.  :shruggy:

Doesn't Galen use a scale where 1 = perfect condition and 5 = junkyard special?

I was just thinking out loud when I said 1 of 1. I can't be absolutely sure.

It could also be that GG was using shorthand for a numeric scale, sort of like this: (thank you to Dave at Mopar Style for this table )

(1.1 would then likely mean the best of the best, with most owners estimating their car at two grades above where it actually ranks.)

I think 1 of 1 makes a lot more sense so I'll stick with it. Grading (1.1, 1.2, 2.1, 2.2, and so on) is even more subjective than a straightforward factual 1 of 1 (even with the doubts that legitimately arise as soon as someone claims 1 of 1).

Well,,,,,if i had to go to Vegas and bet it,,,, I would go with the scale.   The guy owned a body shop.  In addition to the big bucks for the finish panel, I sold him a very nice NOS grille which he was going to have re-plated to remove any traces of shelf-ware.

I will see if I can get an explanation form him.

FYI - the car is in Hinckley Minnesota - anybody up there seen it?
