Ok, I pulled the 318 out of my 69 coronet and installed a mopar perfornce 360 that I built from a short block.  The water pump I have does not have the additional bolt hole to mount the power steering pump.  I ordered a march bracket that will allow me to mount it, but it will take a few weeks to arrive.  I have to drive the car to school and want to know how hard it is going to be to steer without the pump.  Also we are having difficulty finding a converter that fits my 69 904 tranny so need some advice on that as well.

It will be VERY VERY hard to turn, plus without the pump running there will be more slop in the
steering, because the box is setup to run with extra fluid and pressure.

I drove my car like that for about 3 months --- it is doable...    i suggest you stay away from parallel parking though....

Big boys don't need power steering.   :stirthepot:
That's why they are called muscle cars - you have to have muscle.
Sixty-eights look great and the '69 is fine.

The power steering gear boxes have a different ratio and are more difficult to turn without the pump assisting you.  I originally thought that by taking the pump out or belt off, you could have the same thing as factory manual steering.  Not so.  Yes, the car can be driven, but when you get that bracket you will be very happy.

the steering coupler inner could it be damaged. Is harder to drive a steering pump car without it than a non steering car.

But is true, is driveable. I had to when the Shaft and pulley assembly came out from the pum and had to return to home. Lucky I had because only did rest around 15 blocks.

You can still parallel park just fine. I've driven a power steering car for months without the pump. It works, but takes getting used to - just like anything different does.
Be aware that there will be extra play in the steering NOT JUST IN THE STEERING WHEEL.You might find the wheels have a mind of their own if trucker ruts are a big deal on your local highway. And be very carefull when driving through standing water.
