Have any of you guys used the Hurst Dual/Gate Shifters? What shifters do you think are both great for street/strip but don't jump out at you like the outlaw? And will fit in a console.

The Dual Gate works good but have you considered trying to put the Mopar Slap Stick in?  Or the Duncan Shift-R-Gate?

I've heard of it, but never read about it or looked at it personally, are those good?

I have one in my car and I like it a lot but I know somebody else who had one and he hated it.  Basically, from P to D operates the same.  To pull it into 1, you have to push the thumb button to go to second then release the button in 2 and pull it back to 1.  Then to go from 1 to 2, just slide forward.  To go from 2 to 3, depress the thumb button and hold it down to keep it from going into N.  It's simple and works.  It's a very small inconvenience to get into 1 compared to the stock method and it doesn't FEEL as rugged as an aftermarket shifter.  It may be as rugged but just doesn't feel that way.  And truthfully, most of that is from the existing sloppiness of the stock shift lever and has nothing to do with the gate.
For the amount of times I use it, it's perfect.  If I were drag racing weekly, I'd get an aftermarket unit.  I take my car to the track 2 or 3 times a year and be silly with the shifter on the street acouple of times a month, so I'm not using it a lot.  It's cheap and easily returned to stock though so I'm happy with it.

Thanks for the suggestion, I plan on going to the track quite a bit, so I'll look into the dual gate a little more. Gray

an old boss of mine had an Oldsmobile with one installed from the factory, I thought it was cool, had detents on the manual side to allow quick 1-2 and 2-3 shifts. I'm not sure if the non factory ones work this way, i assumed they did. I know this probably didn't help you....

An aftermarket dual gate works the same way but speed shops likely sell more ratchet style shifters than dual gates.

I've got the Duncan Engineering unit and I Honestly feel it's no better than stock.
I bought the Gate as well as the Arm. There is no button with the arm so you need to push down on the
on the arm to shift, Very aWkWrD at first ,Not many people can figure out how to get it in gear. Good Theft deterant !!
I eventually modified my gate with a file so I can Bump into 2nd and them a firm bump
into 3rd. But Im planning to probably go with that new B&M shifter in the future.

Yeah, but having made the shift from 2 to neutral at an "enthusiastic" rpm, and then replacing the bent pushrods, I have to say I find it better than stock now.
