Hello everyone. The pointy bit of the distributor (318 CI) broke off and got stuck in the oil pump. What I want to know is, what is the best way to remove the oil pump? How do I go about doing it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

John_Kunkel

The distributor shaft doesn't extend all the way to the oil pump, there is an intermediate shaft with a slot that accepts the tang end of the distributor shaft.

If you're lucky, all you will need to do is retrieve the broken end from the intermediate shaft with a pair of needlenose plier. Worst case you might have to pull the intake manifold to retrieve it.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.
