Hi all,

I have a stock 'points' style distributor system that we're getting ready to install on my 69' Charger, 383 4brl BB, then I came across this kit from JEGS that I thought that I would post to see if anyone here has used it before. This is the link:

http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS-Performance-Products/555/40035/10002/-1?parentProductId=

I have basically a mild upgrade under the hood: Hooker headers, Holly Double-Pump Carburetor, Edelbrock Performer RPM Intake. However, more than likely the car will never be taken out on the strip and will only be used 99% for car show events and parades since its a General Lee. If the electronic will not make much of a difference in my case here, either/or system sounds like it would work just fine I suppose...?

What exactly makes the car run better between the two options - starting it up on cold days, improved acceleration, fuel, etc.? However, I suppose the core of my question for this newbie is - I would like to make sure that everything is balanced out accordingly and will, technically, run well overall - especially with the mild goodies that I will have under the hood in general (if that is a factor here).

And lastly, the distributor and cap size in the link above at JEGS looks like it is the same size as stock. I realize that this may be an off question, but to those who have purchased this kit before, did you have any problems with the fitting next to the passenger side valve cover? I believe I read on here that some caps do not fit the greatest due to the valve cover itself. For mine, I have the M/T set, which are a little larger it seems compared to the basic. But, I also realize that if this conversion kit is the same size as stock, either kit I go with 'should' fit the same regardless...

Thank you for any replies,
Aaron

Do yourself a big favor, check out:  www.4secondsflat.com  Don is great to deal with and will set up a distributor to you exact build. Use the entire FBO A688 kit the coil and ECU are matched. The wires (Firecore50's, you can get them through Ron, "firefighter" here) and NGK XR5 plugs. You will be impressed, I was.   :2thumbs:
