I'm sure it'll be full of drama regarding the VH debacle, which I look forward to reading all about. :yesnod:

I am on an rock autobiography kick now:

I read Dave Mustaine-Megadeth...I finished it in 3 days & was 344 pages.
Now I am currently reading Ozzy's....I am on pace to have this one done in 3 days also, something like 360 pages
Have Lemmy on the way-Motorhead

I dunno if he has one but Gene Simmons should be good & I plan on getting David Lee Roth's when I am done with Lemmy.

Few others I would like to read up on like Clapton & Keith Richards, all in good time.

I'll have to pick up this one too. I've read Slash's autobiography around 4 times since it came out back in 2008. It's a great read :2thumbs:

I'll be picking this one up for sure. I like Van Halen a lot better with Dave (even though he can't sing) but they were still good with Sammy. I've been a Van Halen fanatic since they came out with 1984 and then I dived back into their catalog and bought them all. From what I can see, Eddie is the one who's got the most problems in the band and it's too bad because his legacy is tarnished to the point where I don't know if it can be polished back to life. We'll see on their new upcoming album (are they still called that)?

Oh, the Slash and Keith Richards autobiographies are fantastic! The Clapton one, I was very disappointed with it.

I have heard that one is good as well.

I heard Nikki Sixx's is also a good read.

Not as boring and base as you might think. I just got done with the book and it was an excellent read. :2thumbs: Of course there is a lot of rock star stuff to be told but there is tons of just everyday life challenges in his story. Hagar is a very inspiring character to me. The guy became a millionare on his own steam, and only a slight percentage of it can be attributed to his successful music career. He's had several other successful businesses, including bike shops and a fire suppression sprinkler company. Van Halen was never more successful than when Hagar was with them and since he's left they've accomplished next to nothing. Not so much "old and soft" as crazy and drunk with Ed. Hagar, meanwhile, has moved on to accomplish a lot since the VH debacle. Anyway, 'Red' is a good book. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Yup, I just finished it too. Very good reading material here. I can't believe that when he joined Van Halen, he had more money than they did. He actually took a pay cut to join their band! That took me by surprise because Van Halen was the biggest band in the world at that time. Sammy's solo career was going very well but he certainly wasn't on the same level as VH was back then.

He came from nothing and made his money the old fashioned way, by utilizing his talent, working hard, and cashing in on the little bit of luck that came his way. Those who haven't read it will have a greater appreciation for what Sam brought to he table, especially when Van Halen would have been all done if he hadn't come along. Yes, they rocked harder with Dave but rocking hard is only part of the equation. Sam definitely gave them what they were lacking with Dave. He was surely the right guy to come along and take the reigns.
