Dashboard Dinning

Today, I found myself eating in the car again while driving.  I had gotten away from this practice for some time (just as I've gotten away from urinating in a coffee cup or plastic jug when driving) until today when I found myself running extra tight on time.

Anyhow.  I live in Ontario Canada.  So I had a hankering for "Quizno's" honey burbon flavoured sub on 12inches of 9 grain bread.  And a can of V8 juice.  So I tuck the plastic bag into my shirt like a bib and keep it out of reach from my dog, until the last bite which is his.

THE POINT IS it falls apart easier then I'd like.  I don't need the distraction when driving, and monitoring my boy(dog).

So what do you guys find the easiest to eat when you are forced to dashboard dine?  I prefer to eat healthy is possible.  Chicken ceasar salads and yogurt parfaits are tuff, maybe even irresponsible since you gotta use a fork and/or spoon, and possible drive with your knees.

I'm going to switch back to good ol' SubWay next time and compare, maybe try them both and weigh the waste, with and without the boy to help clean up.  Subway's got more veggies anyhow.

I only go with plain burgers or plain 7-11 hot dogs.  No stuff on 'em to drop off...

Now watch what you say or they'll be calling you a radical,
      a liberal, oh fanatical, criminal.
Won't you sign up your name, we'd like to feel you're
acceptable, respectable, oh presentable, a vegetable!

A frequent sales meeting topic.   The two that almost always come out on top are McDonald's hamburger/cheesburger and Slimfast.

Egad. That sounds terrible. Slimfast!  :rotz:

I find myself grabbing a big chocolate milk and a bag of trail mix. The good stuff with lots of nuts and M&Ms.  :yesnod:

I'm with you on that - but keep in mind it's not in a combo nor is it fine dining, just the two most popular ways to grab a meal on the go with out ruining a shirt, tie or interior on the way to your next appointment. ;)

The chocolate milk use to be a favorite with me.  And cleanliness is a major factor.  Especially for you suites!  Trail mix sounds good.  I could almost keep a garbage bag full in the car all winter just for the occasion!

Ensure (that's fat slimfast for old people if you don't know) or nuts and water.

I remember as a weeee lad hearing about, and seeing on tv, guys that would cook dinner in their engine compartments.   Anyone ever do this or see anyone do it?

elacruze

Hellz yeah!

We used to do it all the time on my buddy's Chevy Step-van on the way to the races...hot dinner while filling up at the rest stops.

I don't see anything different between eating and cell phone use while driving.

There are so many jokes to be made that I can't even list them all.

Yes it's distracting.  That's why I'm reaching out to our community for some pointers on how to make me a safer healthier dashboard dinner.
