Have non-functioning instrument cluster (ralley) in a 69 Superbee.  When the cluster is pulled out and the gauge wire feed attached the gauges work fine untine the ground is connected and then they all stop working.  Same result when a non dash wire is run to each individual gauge.  They work until the ground is applied and then they stop.

Any ideas?

Are you saying that when you connect a 5V (or any voltage) supply to one side of each gauge (and there is no ground connection at all to the other side of the gauge) the needles move? Are you sure you are not grounding the gauges some other way? So we better understand what you have can you post a pic or two, or a sketch?  :scratchchin:

I was posting this for a shop that a friends car is in to try and get the instrument cluster working.  I will try and get pics, plus more info on Saturday.
